Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 141May 30, 2014 9:14 pm Thanks for that guys, its jogged my memory now, I did remember somewhere on your thread Janicec the lead time for fencing was substantially longer than what was stated in the land contracts. Yeah this makes sense BB, and this is ok as I totally haven't given any thoughts to landscaping yet. BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 142May 31, 2014 5:04 pm they will come out to meet with you anytime, don't have to wait til everything else is done. you just need to tell them what you're planning to do yourselves and sign off the plan. Personally I feel it's more useful to wait til we have the front colours on and most of the rubbish cleared so you can have better idea of what you're planning for. On the contract I put the date of when our dingo guy is booked to clear the sand in the front, they didn't seem to have a problem with that, inspected and scheduled our job before the site has been cleared. On the day of installation, they just left the area where on the plan marked "xxxxx by owner". They're quite easy to deal with. How are things going? Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 143Jun 02, 2014 12:45 am That's not too bad then I thought they wouldn't even come out until it was all done I must of had it confused with something else... The build has been going quite fast and we were ahead of schedule and our roof cover was supposed to commence installation last week but I've found an issue in the roof frame, I'm assuming when they did the roof cover measure they would have found out the issue as well and I'm hoping this is the reason for the delay and that they are taking action to rectify it. I don't have the picture on my computer yet but will upload it later. But lets just say, I seriously doubt whoever did this section used a spirit level... Really happy with the choice of Surfmist. But they should be finished this week and hopefully get to see some plastering done this week. Looks like they just made it before the big rain too, which is great, not keen on seeing the laundry flooded again especially now theres timber framing of the cavity slider in place. Better shots of the alfresco Was a nice surprise when we saw on the plan that Summit had also raised our alfresco to 31c by way of recessing the ceiling at no cost to us after we initially only raised the living/Dining areas to 31c. Living/Dining and Kitchen framing for the cavity slider between our Kitchen and Laundry Grey float was scheduled for last week but when we went, seemed they hadn't made a start yet. Called SS and he said they'd started today so only a slight delay... Also, I have to rant that quite a few of our leftover bricks got swiped... ![]() I guess this kinda thing is common but still sucks all the same. Hopefully the ones we did get will be enough to make a mailbox and maybe a planter for the front. Also got an email from Kleenheat saying our gas connection had to be put on hold because they couldn't find the prelay connection to the mains?? Anyone else experienced this? BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 150Jun 19, 2014 9:26 pm Coming along nicely. Nice score with the alfresco ceiling check out my thread if you want to see some pictures of the ceilings with the bulk head around. We saw it in a display home and thought it was a great idea. We also scored high ceilings in our master bedroom ![]() Design by Greater Concept Build by Premiere Homes Design by Greater Concept - modified version Evolution Court Build by Premiere Homes My build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64854 Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 151Jun 20, 2014 12:34 am Yay for roof just in time ![]() Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 152Jun 21, 2014 11:02 pm Yes I saw your alfresco BB its massive ![]() Yes I spoke to our SS Janice and he was aware and was gonna take care of it. Curious as on the schedule it says it had been complete! Oh well just as long as its working with no issues or extra costs to me, its all good. BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 153Jun 21, 2014 11:11 pm Going to start getting some quotes for some tilers for the main living areas and with our wood look tiles, it will probably be necessary for us to screed. Does anyone know how much extra it is for tilers to screed? BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 155Jul 03, 2014 11:32 pm Honestly, we weren't offered by the builder to have sarking. However I have read there are benefits of sarking beyond insulation and noise reduction such as reducing condensation under the colorbond sheets, hoping we don't regret not getting this. In terms of noise and heat/cold insulation we are getting R4.0 batts which also includes the alfresco, garage and portico. Just noticed you are building with Summit too and are at about the same stage. Your house is looking great! Has it been mostly smooth sailing for you so far? We have very similar taste so am loving your colour selections! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 158Jul 30, 2014 12:01 am Time to resurrect this thread ![]() A lot has happened since, so anyone keeping up with our build, apologies for my laziness...I will however post pictures chronologically up to our current stage (Tiling) Rache, for the most part it has been pretty smooth sailing, there have been some issues (mainly at roof stage) but all of them have so far been addressed promptly by the SS. Glad you like our colour selections, it took us a few attempts to get the colour combinations and tones we were finally happy with. We initially went with Etic Rovere wood-effect tiles but ended up going with the Doga Almond, as we wanted something ever so slightly lighter but I think they are quite similar. We are getting this installed in our Laundry as it adjoins the kitchen and wanted to have a seamless transition to the rest of the living area so I'll take pictures what it looks like soon. BUILDER SUMMIT HOMES | DESIGN THE MONACO 248 » Our Build Thread Re: Building with Summit Homes, Corimbia Estate 159Jul 30, 2014 12:15 am Alfresco with recessed gyprock ceilings Master Bed looking to Ensuite (The grey float looked rough as!) Living/Dining/kitchen (the grey float again was pretty patchy, I've seen others that looked smooth) Didn't expect this but they put a gyprock wall (they call this their Superwall) up on this side of the living as there was a structural beam that protruded through a small section at the top of this wall and the SS felt normal hardwall plaster would have cracked in a few months because of this beam. Smooth finish though.
