PM sent Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 26Feb 05, 2014 9:39 pm We had our first site inspection today to check all the brickwork. Our SS is James - we are very happy with him. He picked up things we didn't notice. The couple of things that we did notice, he got on the phone there and then and organized for corrections. The main thing not quite right was the extra sleeve of shower wall (creating the niche where shower gel, shamp/ cond will live) was only 2 m high and not all the way to the roof. That (and a couple of other little things) will be fixed this week. We are feeling confident and very happy that we are blessed to have him as our SS. Here are some pics from today: Front http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_005_zpsba59b86e.jpg Main bedroom http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_011_zps71055be6.jpg Theatre http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_013_zps8af2f8d8.jpg Kitchen - double door pantry is on the right http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_015_zps50eef089.jpg Family & dining area (James has organised for the window on the left to be fixed) http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_016_zps34c85278.jpg Looking toward the kitchen and extra benchtop/ cupboards area http://i943.photobucket.com/albums/ad277/joyfulbuilder/Our%20new%20home%20by%20the%20sea/WP_20140205_018_zps4a25dcb8.jpg Our roof should be on in a couple of weeks. Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 28Feb 05, 2014 11:26 pm Congratulations. Bricking looks great. Making great progress. Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 29Feb 06, 2014 12:07 am Thank you seabreezewaikiki and oncewerefurriers. It is finally starting to feel real. Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 30Feb 06, 2014 12:07 pm Seeing your windows at the living area, it has affirmed our decision to stick with that size too. Just wondering why you didn't opt for a slightly bigger sliding door to the alfresco? We're having 25 x 13.5. Made it 25 x 15 but we brought it back to the original size in the plan. Like the theatre window too but OH preferred the original size which is a massive 18 x 10. Oh well, it's not going to be a theatre but more of a media room or a second family area. Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 31Feb 06, 2014 1:03 pm I did want a little bit of a corner in the alfresco (although it will be tiny) - increasing the door would have lost that. I'm really not sure what sort of window treatment to put on that sliding door. I am thinking white wooden blinds on the rest of the windows.... would a white shutter look weird on that door as it is slightly different? Or would it be ok because it is a door? I think the theatre window will depend on how you're using it. If it is a second family room a large window would be great. Ours will definitely be a theatre (I hope to have a movie theme in there) and it will hopefully be 8the only tv in the house. I say hopefully as we have put the tv cables into the family room (which will be a plus for resale as people like their tvs). I would prefer to encourage less tv and more reading and talking with each other as the kid/s grow up. Yeah, the HT will become more of a second family room or media room. Question: Are you still allowed to make changes to the floor plan at the pre-start? Or does the pre-start staff provide their suggestion as well? Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 33Feb 06, 2014 1:32 pm We made a couple of minor changes - but that meant we had to pay the council fee again to resubmit the plans to have them approved (eg. we made the storage room bigger at prestart as we realized it didn't fit the main thing we wanted it to fit by about 20mm). The prestart person made a few suggestions like changing the way the doors were swinging and adding a row of tiling to make the finish neater, increasing the mirror size (no extra charge for that to a certain height). I think it will be venetian white wooden blinds (pvc in the bathrooms) on the rest of the house.... I think I'll compare the price. Kids and verticals on doors don't mix very well. (they don't mix very well on windows either but I can generally keep mine away from the windows) Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 34Feb 06, 2014 2:39 pm Okeydokey, so it's best that the plan is already finalised before the pre-start. Thanks again! Re: Halls Head WA - Content-Living - brick work photos 36Feb 10, 2014 7:23 pm Hi Seabreeze Ive enjoyed reading your thread.
