Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 21, 2013 12:25 am Hi everyone, I am in a predicament with our tile selection to our living areas. We have narrowed our sections to two one is a 600x600 Syraka (Cream one with some patterns) other one is a 450x900 light brown (sort of mocha colour). I have seen Syraka been used in baths but never in living areas. I'm thinking if the patterns are a bit too much for the living areas. If anyone has used this one for the living areas would appreciate if they could share some pics. Any advice regarding this would be much appreciated. I currently have light tiles with light grout in my living areas and they look dirty 5 minutes after cleaning them. The grout is also a hassle to maintain. Re: Confused with Tile Selections - Need advise 4Nov 22, 2013 1:00 pm Good idea regarding the grout colour.. Personally do you prefer the light tile with patterns "Syraka" or the dark coloured tile ? Another picture of Syraka laid below. The one we were thinking is a bit more lighter in colour. Also - take a look at pictures with light floors so you can see what wall colours and furniture colours go with it...... that would also influence my decision..... the overall look and how the pieces go together. Sometimes I really like one particular thing... but don't choose it as it doesn't go with everything else.... you want the overall look to flow. Re: Confused with Tile Selections - Need advise 6Nov 22, 2013 6:48 pm Go the darker one We first picked out a tile that was grey and had a pattern Then I saw a photo of it in a living area and wow it looked busy So now we have gone with a grey tile that has less of a pattern Re: Confused with Tile Selections - Need advise 7Nov 22, 2013 7:07 pm I really like the look of that floor with the tiles laid in that fashion (alternating directions of the grain) like a checkerboard. Something different and I think looks very nice. But it's quite a particular look so it's either down to you like it or you don't. I think we will go for the darker tile as that is less of a risk with that going wrong than the one with patterns.. My Building Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62776 I am looking for someone who might have tackled a similar issue as me. I have a few rendered interior walls, the surface condition is hardly flat. I can see all the bumps… 0 7964 If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8306 How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11916 |
