Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2013 1:55 pm We're currently settling on a block of land in Brisbane and are negotiating with the builder on pricing etc. The cost of their floor coverings and lighting is quite a lot higher than having external contractors do the job. I expect some markup but not >50% which is what its working out to be so far. Has anyone organized with external contractors to have work done 'post build' yet still paid out of the home loan? If so, what is the process here - and when do they receive payment? One article I read said it is usually after the builder has been paid, which means post final drawdown, which could take a while I imagine as it's the final signoff. Anyway, thoughts welcome.
