Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 15, 2013 6:20 pm Hi
I thought I would post my little story on here as I am following other peoples builds My husband and I are building through Redink Homes in Jindalee. The plan we have picked is the 'Bayview' (the upgraded version of this is called the Hudson and is on display in the Lansdale display village) We built a great house in Clarkson through Celebration Homes 4 years ago (Some of my posts from then are still on this forum) but mid way through this year and after the birth of our 1st baby decided to put it on the market as we were on quite a busy road and thought it would be a good time to sell. So we signed up with Redink Homes in August and were waiting for our titles to come through for the block. The titles came through in October and the settlement of our land is on Thursday next week. Redink Homes so far have been great, our drawings have been completed apparently so its just a matter of getting the interior consultation and pre start booked in and I guess then getting it to the council to sign off. We learnt so much from our first build and are looking forward to doing it all again. I need to make a prestart list very soon so we can make changes that we didnt make last time and regretted. We have actually made quite a few of our changes already so we are hoping not to spend too much at prestart. Anyways that is my little story, looking forward to hearing from others who are building and following all of your builds! Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 2Nov 15, 2013 9:37 pm Welcome!! Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 8Nov 17, 2013 1:22 am Looking forward to seeing your build. I am also posting to follow Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 9Nov 22, 2013 12:15 pm Hi Guys Here is our house plan Finally managed to post it! Settlement of our land was yesterday yay! Redink have authorised site costs so next step is prestart meeting. I will have to get a list together of things we want to add at prestart, we have made quite a few changes already so really arent planning on going crazy at prestart (We cant really anyway as we have almost reached our total budget) I guess its about doing things that you cant easily change later on, I think we are quite happy with the plan though, we have high ceilings in the living areas only, reverse cycle air con, stone bench tops in kitchen which came with the promotion. We've added an extra wide front door and the laundry bench top, slightly raised ceiling in the garage, bigger sliding doors ontop our alfresco, the front windows are corner windows as we are hoping we 'might' get a view down the road to the ocean. If anyone can see something they think would be worth adding feel free to mention it Rosie Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 10Nov 22, 2013 12:27 pm Wow - cool plan! Check the size of the minor shower - I know ours is fairly tight. I have an open powder room like yours. I wish I had put a fancier sink and tap etc in there because everyone sees it. Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 11Nov 22, 2013 1:24 pm Love the plan! Kitchen is lovely! For the bathroom could you put the bath on the wall under window and shower in top left corner... Depending on dimensions could give a bigger vanity in the bathroom and could possibly make the shower a little bigger. Showers that are 900x900 can feel a little 'tight' particularly once you add the screens. Also how deep is your fridge recess? Many of the new French door fridges are over 90cm deep. Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 12Nov 22, 2013 1:33 pm Nice plan! The only thing that I would change with it would be to make your double shower back into a single & add a tiled seat on the other side. I did it for my kids bathroom but not mine & it's the one thing I regret. Wish I'd known of that, have also seen a corner seat done. Was also wondering about the sliders in your WIR, not sure I'd bother as it always becomes difficult to get to the stuff in the middle where the doors cross. I actually remember someone suggesting making built in wardrobes a bit deeper so clothes don't get 'shut into' the doors. Also are you planning of door into the WIR/ensuite? We didn't on ours and in hindsight a lot of light comes through the window in the ensuite so, particularly now summer is here, it wakes me up early with the light coming in. Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 14Nov 22, 2013 6:34 pm Thanks guys for all your great ideas, will definitley show the hubby and see what he thinks I like the shower seat idea Charlie23 I wasnt really worried about having the two shower heads but the sale rep put them as on the original plan we had a 3rd toilet which we removed so he added in the second shower head saying that it was basically the same cost if we had kept the toilet. Fmac my husband and I have spoken in great detail about whether or not to put a slider on the WIR/ENS opening, we didnt on our last build which was a smiliar opening and you are right it really does light up the room in the morning/day, I think we will leave it though as it adds to the effect of the walk through to the bathroom type robe, its not something we really regretted with our last house so we may leave it, although in saying that getting it put on wouldnt be a problem either because we could leave it open but have the option of closing it to block out the light. Hmm some more thought needs to go into that one I think I have a list of a few things I remembered not liking from my last house, one being the toilet window with a vent at the top, Im going to either change this to a fixed window and have a toilet exhaust fan put in or change it to an awning window. I hated how our last toilet use to have dust and dirt coming in when it was rainy and the door would constantly be banging. Then a few things like power points in areas like hallways etc, although my brother is an electrician so as long as I get the power points we want on single leaf walls done then if we need my brother to do the cavity wall power points then that will be easy. Also I have noted from other peoples posts that upgrading the bath tub isnt much more so thats on my list too We were alot more organised with our last build, not so much this time around, but I think prestart will still be a couple of weeks away anyway. I like your plan, it's going to look amazing Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 18Nov 25, 2013 4:15 pm Love your plan, we are also building with Redink so looking forward to following your journey Re: REDINK Build - NOR - Jindalee 19Dec 09, 2013 9:10 pm Hi guys We have a prestart date! Finally, feels like everything is taking forever we signed up in August, I dont remember it taking this long with our last build to get to prestart but maybe everyone is a bit busier at the moment. So prestart is on the 8th of Jan and we have the interior consulatation on the 7th of Jan, that will be a busy week but we are looking forward to getting it all done so we can get it to council. Apparently it wont take too long at council as they pre check it all before it gets there, we waited 8 weeks last time we built and apparently this time it will take 2 weeks max - not sure how true this is? If it is true its great! How long did everyone else's builders permits take? Also how long after pre start until you had a slab? We went to our block yesterday and it got us all excited! We really cant wait to start this build! Hope everyone elses journey is going smoothly I guess things are going to slow down a bit with Christmas here now! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas incase I dont get on again before! Rosie Your house should come in "as new" condition. It should be clean, and without stains 1 4544 Can you give advice on how to get missing certificates needed for a form 21? Our bank requires us to provide one but we are missing 4 building certificates from our first… 3 71729 yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5205 |
