We didn't waterfall either, I'm not a fan unless its a 40mm benchtop. I don't like joins of any description, got some here on the bench in our kitchen and I hate them. There is no discrete joins after 5 yrs of wear and tear! How's the kitchen looking tho, bet it looks amazing! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 303Jun 08, 2014 5:38 pm Waterfall ends aren't going to make our budget either - met with our sales consultant today and got the costings for our house A question on electrical plans at pre start - I'm reading people have spent thousands on the electrical side of things of pre-start, what sort of things? I don't remember spending terribly much last time round so I'm a bit worried! This included 10 additional double power points 2 quad power points 3 starlights 9 extra battern or wall lights 1 2-way switch 8 conduits plus a few other bits n pieces Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 306Jun 08, 2014 6:11 pm Wellard2ndTimers Waterfall ends aren't going to make our budget either - met with our sales consultant today and got the costings for our house A question on electrical plans at pre start - I'm reading people have spent thousands on the electrical side of things of pre-start, what sort of things? I don't remember spending terribly much last time round so I'm a bit worried! Our electrical came in at about $3500, which I was pleasantly surprised. Our biggest cost was downlights, which after asking a sparky friend to price for us, HGWA came in not too much more expensive so we thought we would save ourselves the hassle and have them do them. Also we added the NBN package, just the base one, as we are in an NBN estate and was happy with what they offered. From memory that was about $700 for the base or jumped up to about $1400 for the next level up. We took the downlights out of our bedrooms and garage and changed them to bayonet fittings and then repositioned the downlights to other places in the house. Much cheaper way of doing it. Oh and two way switches ... they aren't cheap, but def worth getting, but hard to work out until you get an electrical plan. Here's a cut and paste of the email we got with electrical costs on it, just prior to prestart. It will give you an idea: Upgrades Single to Double GPO $13.00 Additions Single GPO $54.00 Double GPO $67.00 Television Point Digital $118.00 Conduit to existing switch (20mm) $15.00 Conduit with blank face plate (20mm) & chase wire $43.00 Bayonet Light Points $54.00 13w LED down light $159.00 15w LED down light $164.00 25w LED down light $202.00 Telephone Points $87.00 (same line) Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 307Jun 08, 2014 6:30 pm Those GPO prices look the same as when I built 4 years ago! That's good news. Do the power points come single or double as standard? IMHO they are just an unpractical fashion gimmick. It makes me laugh when I read that people have two dishwashers because they could not decide if it should be in the kitchen or scullery. How uneconomical and inefficient. A kitchen is a central point for the family and when entertaining. Do you really want to be hidden away in a back-room when cooking? Do you really want to run forth and back between two rooms when preparing food? Would it not be more efficient to have everything in one place. I would like to hear opinions from people who actually have a scullery if they would build one again and how they are using it. Well aren't you a little ball of sunshine, you know what everyone has different likes etc on what gets them excited. Bit rude of you to come in while people are talking about how excited they are and throw some insults down! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 310Jun 08, 2014 7:03 pm We spent just on 6 grand on electrical it adds up bloody quick! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 311Jun 08, 2014 7:05 pm Thanks for the responses, here's another one: The floor tiles included I gather are the Della Vita 450x450 tiles in a choice of a whole 4 colours. Any good? Anyone upgrade? Cost the earth? What about the carpets, talking to our salesman today and the standard range sounds better than what we got last time, will we want to upgrade? The tiles are fine, well I think so anyways! The four colours on offer aren't that bad, but it might pay for you to go to HGWA Head office and have a look for yourself. They are in the Prestart room just off reception. As for the carpet, we upgraded, to give you an idea the mid range ones add about $1500 for the house, top of the range about $3000. If you can't afford to upgrade it, at the very least see if you can find room in the budget to upgrade the underlay, will make a world of difference. Personally, i do not like the tiles. We are building the Rivello, our estimated funds back are $3800 (not a lot) and to upgrade to 600 by 600 matt grey (through crosby) was we had to pay $10,000 (that's including the $3,800) In saying that $1400 is not too bad for 102sqm (including wastage), but we've been to craft decor and been quoted around $8000 for porcelian 600 by 600's. I hope that helps Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 314Jun 08, 2014 8:02 pm [quote="dnalkoorb"]#asha don't worry if you do not have a sullery. IMHO they are just an unpractical fashion gimmick. I am just having a massive WIP running into the kitchen - I NEED a huge pantry for all my wholefoods! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 315Jun 08, 2014 8:37 pm Marcia Don't feed the trolls Cupcakes. Someone posts for the first time, to add insults is not joining the conversation to add anything but to wind someone up. If you have the means and need to have three oves, two dishwashers and more, good on you. Besides, you will need two dishwashers to keep up with the dishes from three ovens I say it again ... The best thing about building is you get everything YOU want! @Marcia no not trolling just stating my opinion, see I said IMHO and I'm asking for other peoples opinion who are using a scullery as I really want to know. A walk-in-pantry makes perfectly sense, even a bench top for hardly used appliances or so but as a main working area - no not for me, perhaps for others. In the last two decades house designs became open-plan with the kitchen as a central point and now it seems that kitchens are only to show off and to compete with the Smith's next door rather then a practical and efficient workplace. Again that's just MHO Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 316Jun 08, 2014 9:06 pm dnalkoorb @Marcia no not trolling just stating my opinion, see I said IMHO and I'm asking for other peoples opinion who are using a scullery as I really want to know.
