Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 09, 2013 11:45 pm Hi all, brand new to the site have been reading a few posts but thought it was about time I did my own... My fiance and I are looking to build with Home Group WA, however we have read a few bad reviews on them in the past 6 months. So we are just wondering if any of you guys on here have either built or are in the process of building with them? Any feedback or info would be greatly appreciated, BTW we have just secured a block in The Vale, Aveley WA... Cant wait to start our build but want to make sure we are choosing the right builder first... Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 2Nov 10, 2013 9:23 am Hi Daniel, I built with HGWA back when they were still Scott Park homes. My build was finished in August 2012 so I've been in my new home for over a year now. I found them to be a bit slow with the paperwork stage but still pretty good at answering my queries, and the build itself was fast - 5.5 months from slab to PCI. The quality of the build was great, we had a few hiccups along the way but nothing major and everything was fixed up for us as requested. I've been in for 15 months now and still very few issues. The maintenance dept have been great and have come out to fix anything that goes awry. My build thread/blog is in my signature below - feel free to have a read and let me know if you have any queries. In my opinion, they were great and I would build with them again. -Ally Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 3Nov 10, 2013 2:55 pm hi Daniel we are building with HGWA and have pre start in dec here are some of the things to why I think they are great they call and email me with updates on the paper work it was a slow once we signed up but that was us being slow with our end of the paper work (we were slow at getting our finance together) we love the designs and what you get with them we mail with lots of questions and they get back on that day we have been into their main office to see the different things you can upgrade to and to see what is standard, we find their standard stuff just as good as the upgrades. lets hope that there are more reasons to come! which design are you looking at? we went with the Bordeaux Bordeaux after we did our changes Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 4Nov 10, 2013 7:06 pm hey guys, thank you both for the feedback! I noticed that the majority of feedback over a year ago was great, it seems to have been since they changed names and have become extremely slow over the past year?? We are looking at the Rivello as our block is 17x30 so we want a wide but shorter house to give us a bit of garden area, were meeting with a consultant tomorrow night!! 2 cupcakes you will have to keep me updated on how you go as I'd love to see how you go, where abouts are you building? Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 6Nov 11, 2013 10:52 am Hi Daniel, I am currently building with HGWA, we are almost at lock up. What were the bad reviews you have heard about HGWA recently? The timeline is very slow but honestly at this point in time.. all builders are slow with trade shortages.. the quality of the builds are great so i think thats why they take their time too.. HGWA are very quick to respond with any problems.. I would still build with them even if the minor issues we have had re electrical work.. goodluck with your decision Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 8Nov 11, 2013 3:50 pm Well the bad reviews I had read are on product review then searching for WA builders... Marcia I'd love to see what you have done, we want to make a few minor changes and quite a big one - almost pull the whole left side of the house forward as our land allows us to have the front of the house at 2m and the garage at the standard 4-4.5m back We also are looking to add a sink into the scullery and relocate the dishwasher there, where abouts are you building? Did they give you a rough time frame for completion? We met with Celebration this weekend who were very clear on the time scale and even showed us their construction report which I have to admit was very impressive from slab down to HO Nicci, how long have you been building from slab down to where you're at now? My friend is building with Homebuyers and their place has shot up so fast!! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 10Nov 11, 2013 4:47 pm Hi Daniel, I did a lot of looking for reviews on that productreview website as well - and I found that every single builder had a few negatives. None of them had a perfect score. So asking here is a good idea cos these are current nearby builds, and will therefore reflect your experience more than some random comment from a build from god-knows how long ago... Good luck! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 12Nov 11, 2013 7:09 pm Hi Daniel and welcome to the forum. We searched for a long time for the design that best suited our needs and we chose HGWA, I have been on this forum stalking other threads and the main negative about them which I can vouch for too is the admin stages but as others have said with other builders its the same. We completed our Pre-start early October. As others have said, they are quick to respond to emails/queries. So far we have been really happy with how we have been dealt with and knowing everything we know now we would still chose HGWA. We're building with them in Lexia so we'll practically be neighbours Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 13Nov 11, 2013 11:08 pm Has anyone had costing done on having white mortar? Or has anyone stayed with the cream? They have said its about $4,000 for the white mortar between the bricks! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 14Nov 12, 2013 12:32 pm Hi Daniel, We signed up with HGWA 2 months ago building a modified version of the Rivello, in Corimbia, Landsdale. Sales consultant has been amazing and any changes haven't been a problem and very quick to respond and has even provided some great design mods to consider. Some of the changes to original Rivello plan are; - Added sink and dishwasher recess to scullery - Added overhead cupboards to kitchen, and full length window spashback - changed main bedroom/ensuite to be same as Bellevue display - extended front portico out - added bath to second bathroom - raised garage to 28c to fit SUV/4x4 The resort range inclusions are great and don't think we will need to upgrade much at prestart. The quality, the designs and the expertise of the sales consultant got us over the line ahead of Celebrations and Ventura. Even if it may take a month or two longer, I'd rather have a better end product to enjoy Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 15Nov 12, 2013 12:55 pm Hey Mannersa, We had a meet with a consultant last night, ended up going for the Monte Carlo design but with quite a few changes, we made the first 2 you made, did you then have to convert your stove to integrated ovens and hob and then extended the worktop out? As I said we made quite a few changes so will have to show you the plan once we get it rather than try and explain! Looking forward to getting the drawings and costings back, very flexible with their designing though can’t take that away from them!! Didnt even think about the garage ceiling, thats a good idea!! Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 16Nov 12, 2013 2:51 pm We only decided to put the window splashback in yesterday and got the price back yesterday so drawings currently being amended. I havent been advised it will affect anything else at this stage. We removed the pantry, given we thought it was overkill to have pantry and scullery, and extended the bench right across so now it's a 3m wide window splashback looking into the garden. We went for the Resort Spec which has the freestanding 900mm oven and cooktop, so not sure if that would make the difference if we have to integrate? Did your glass have to be toughened for the window splashback? Once I figure out how to upload plans I will do also. Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 17Nov 12, 2013 3:45 pm I use www.bucketphoto.com You upload a photo t bucketphoto Once yoy upload the photo you should see your photo and to the side of the page there should be a list of link codes Like this Links to share this photo Email & IM Direct HTML IMG IMG thumb Update Link Options Highlight the IMG and copy it and then paste it on homeone forum Re: Home Group WA Reviews.... 19Nov 12, 2013 4:40 pm House and plans look awesome! Well we were told a 2100mm window would be roughly around $2k, due to heat of the stove we need to extend the worktop out and put integrated appliances in and yes the glass needs to be toughened! We also have initially added units above and along the window wall, some sort of kitchen package? We were again roughly quoted $6k for this so will be interested to see the final price when it all comes in!!
