The paperwork side was so slow and when they finally got going the tradies have been slow and rough! Whist no home builders are perfect Elderton have been really bad and I would never recommend them. It is getting really hard to find a professional builder to avoid all these headaches. Thanks for the tip, I was thinking about Mc Jones as well. One of my friends is working with them and he is pretty happy with their approach. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 104Aug 17, 2015 11:57 pm MrPatto, are you in yet? How's everything going for Susieq? We are expecting the house to be "water tight" within the next 2 weeks. Still working on about a 7 week delay at this point. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 107Aug 23, 2015 2:13 am It's really bad, I would never recommend them! I spoke to the site supervisor when I posted last so over a month ago now and he told me the two week schedule saying the facades would have been up within the two weeks. I called him a couple of days ago because they are still not up and his excuse was he had to wait for the materials to come in. Facades are still not finished.. He couldn't even estimate how long there is to go. We were meant to move in 2 days ago and still so far off. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 108Aug 23, 2015 10:32 am I don't even know what to say Susieq! I really hope they hurry up as I can't imagine how you're feeling. Don't let them get away with not paying you tour liquidated damages. It's nothing special but still, you're entitled to it. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 109Aug 23, 2015 7:09 pm Tour liquidated damages? I'm still getting screwed around as well. Painters start and do a little bit then nothing for a few days. Promises after promise from the supervisor and nothing! I'm sick of it. Thanks, Matt Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 110Aug 23, 2015 9:18 pm Yeah it's a measly $50 a week. When we were singing the contracts with our solicitor he changed it to $50 per day and we realised when we went in to sign the other ones they had changed it back to week. That's nothing for them. When are you meant to be in mrpatto? Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 112Sep 01, 2015 7:53 pm Hai, Is it possible to view the colour studio before you receive the tender. We have not yet decided to go with them Just wanted to know the different options under the different inclusion level. Thanks in advance. bbg27 Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 114Sep 02, 2015 7:39 am I have been holding back because of this forum.. Their price plus other promotions are very attractive. But am scared to be in a situation like you. We are on a tight budget too,so have to really think. Got a quote from clarendon too, but the price difference is a fairly good one which I could use for other items. Have you had any progress ? Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 115Sep 02, 2015 4:35 pm @bbg Look, if you are on a budget then Elderton should suit you fine. I got a lot of upgrades on mine which I think would cost me another $20K (or more ) if I went to another builder. They gave me reasonable prices (except for a ridiculous price for a timber privacy screen). Have a look at other builder threads, people are getting screwed with the prices. Our construction starts this week and I am really hoping that there would be minimal delays (fingers-crossed). Looking at this thread, I'm preparing myself for the worst. Lol. Having said that, a couple of my mates are building with rawson, ebh, masterton and clarendon - each of them are also having their own whinge on delays, bad customer service, unexpected fees, high costs, wrong materials etc.. At the end of the day, the cost is important to me... and the floorplan, of course. I could take a couple of weeks of delay as I am not in a rush to move in (though it would be better if the build is completed early). Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 116Sep 03, 2015 3:39 am We are edging closer to handover hopefully another few weeks. I know I keep bagging them but from what I have heard other building companies are just as bad. I think it's all to do with the huge amount of working going on vs skilled workers. In saying all this I'm still going to have a nice home. To save cost further we are doing aircon, landscaping, concrete and flooring after handover which will save us a huge amount. Elderton prices are good I admit. Thanks, Matt Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 117Sep 16, 2015 1:24 pm That's not bad if you are close to hand over. We were meant to be in 4 weeks ago and scaffolding was only taken down yesterday. Really hoping they get a move on. If it was a couple of weeks delay I would be okay but this will be at least a 3 month delay. Still do not even know when we can expect to move in. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 120Sep 16, 2015 7:11 pm My should have been done as well. 28 week build is up still waiting for the finish off and handover. They really are a joke! They even had is easy I'm doing flooring driveway and landscaping myself and they still can't do it in time.
