Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 22Mar 03, 2014 3:34 pm We did have a problem with the building, but I am pleased to see that Elderon acted upon our complaint immediately. It gives me a lot of confidence in their future work. Choosing a builder is hard as you don't really know what you are getting in to, but I think we made the right decision. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 23Mar 03, 2014 10:20 pm we,re also building a house at caddens with elderton. Just completed the 10% deposit last February @ building approval has been done through CDC. Expected date of construction is within 6 weeks, per Lisa. Indeed, quite a delay in admin process, but sales person, c/o Edward, is very good. Our house design is carrington grange 29. Quite a bit of modifications: landing with the stairs, extra shower on ground floor, and home theatre room will be converted as extra room. If you are planning to build with elderton expect at least 12 months of completion. Thus if you are an investor, you will encounter headache with the cost of money. Last month, all their house packages had increased to 15-17%. But per sales person c/o Jason, buyers did not really notice the price increase for the original prices were quite affordable. It's elderton price increase after 2 years. The website prices are no longer correct. Their house packages are selling like hot cakes. No wonder, there's a delay in admin. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 24Mar 04, 2014 8:38 am Hey Halaka, I'm happy to see quite a few people now building with Elderton. I'm building a modified Carrington Grange too with extra bedroom downstairs. Congrats on starting construction soon! Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 25Mar 05, 2014 4:45 pm Hi All, I thought I'll give my two cents here as well. We're building the Meridian 46 at Kellyville. We've just got notified of our CDC approval last week, after a lengthy (since December) wait... I have to say though, our original sales person was very good. He answer all of my questions at any time, even when I unknowingly call him on his day off... But afterwards, the admin contact has just been slow... Half of it is our fault for delaying the sign off of several documents but I do expected a more speedier response time... Anyways, now that the approval has been granted, I am waiting for their start date. I just hope it won't rain too much over the coming months... Our contract says a 36 weeks completion date, but we will see... Halaka: Your house design sounds great, I love the idea of a landing for the stairs... Wish we had thought of that before On an end note, it's good to see more and more people are building with Elderton, we were a bit worried when we sign the contract as there was almost no one that have had experience with them. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 26Mar 06, 2014 10:28 am If you are doing the package with 29 square carrington grange, below are my lists of good upgrades (may not be true now due to price increases) : upgrade of insulation from r.3 to r3.5: $58.00 only! smeg 900 freestanding sa9010x upright cooker: $840.00 assd2127 aluminium slding stacker door: $511.00 You might also consider also upgrading the paint to 3 coats from 2 coats: $892.00 Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 27Mar 09, 2014 2:54 pm halaka If you are doing the package with 29 square carrington grange, below are my lists of good upgrades (may not be true now due to price increases) : upgrade of insulation from r.3 to r3.5: $58.00 only! smeg 900 freestanding sa9010x upright cooker: $840.00 assd2127 aluminium slding stacker door: $511.00 You might also consider also upgrading the paint to 3 coats from 2 coats: $892.00 Thanks for that just a quick question did you final price vary alot from the price that was give on the website? Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 28Mar 10, 2014 8:51 am No really. For pricing, its very reasonable. What stated in the package price is what you get. Of course, you pay extra if you want to upgrade. During our time we get extra per promo for $0.00: Premium mixer, extra ceiling height, fly screens and dishwasher. Not bad. The only necessary item not included is the blinds. Otherwise, you can pay the price and live with it after construction. Per website it includes, aircon, alarm, driveways, remote garage, tiles, carpets, etc. But beware, the admin processing is quite long, specially, if you made variations. Hopefully, at my end, the construction time and the quality will compensate with the admin delay. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 29Mar 10, 2014 2:26 pm halaka No really. Ah cool thanks alot for that I have my tender presentation next week so I am eagerly awaiting it Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 30Mar 10, 2014 4:35 pm I spoke with Adam at the ponds office today regarding price increase as this thread is the first id heard of it and was told the price of the watermark 26 which were looking at went up $13.5k (15% increase is >40k)
Still not bad in comparison. We have questions to ask in May when we hopefully secure our block of land but others may be able to assist? •Was a letter box or clothesline supplied? •Has anyone added blinds and at what cost for how many? •Has anyone removed the his&hers sink from the ensuite and just had one sink, did it reduce the cost at all? •Had the bulk heads extended to the roof and at what cost? •Had an extra room (family) covered with tile opposed to carpet and at what cost? If anyone has done this I'd be happy to hear from you, naturally everyone tries to budget but these costs we won't be sure of until we are at tender stage. They haven't had a price increase since 2010 so they say Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 32Mar 11, 2014 3:02 pm •Was a letter box or clothesline supplied? Not included in the package. Ask a brochure to elderton for complete details of inclusion. •Has anyone added blinds and at what cost for how many? Per contract, they will add 20% margin. Better do it afterwards and keep variations to minimum to get better value. •Has anyone removed the his&hers sink from the ensuite and just had one sink, did it reduce the cost at all? Not done it, can't comment. •Had the bulk heads extended to the roof and at what cost? No idea what you mean. Ask them directly. •Had an extra room (family) covered with tile opposed to carpet and at what cost? If you will convert a theatre to extra room, its carpeted. I decided to keep the carpet in mine. Ask them directly. I believe they can quote per square meter thus you will have an idea. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 33Mar 12, 2014 6:55 pm Don't get blinds! Get someone else to do it. We are going to send our plans to a few places to quote for the whole house. 1/2 price shutters has been recommended to me a number of times, so they will be one of the first. I doubt changing the sink would change the cost too much. We deleted a room and they took off a measly $176! We extended the bulk heads for a nominal amount - I won't tell you how much as they have increased their prices and your kitchen is different from mine - you'll just have to ask As for tile versus carpet, they have an allowance per square metre - not sure what their difference in cost is though. Or whether they have a contract with their preferred supplier to do a certain amount. Again, this will have to be discussed with them Good luck. Our build starts in just over a week and are hoping for smooth sailing for the next nine months! Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 34Mar 12, 2014 6:57 pm Just have to say that the auto correct for this forum is ridiculous. I could not shorten versus! And ly ing (without the space) is auto corrected! I couldn't type it the other day and I was not talking about a person, just that something was ly ing on the ground. Just paid the 5% deposit last January, and we are told that it will take 6 weeks to start construction. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 37Mar 13, 2014 8:09 pm halaka, we bought in august (mulgoa rise). Land was supposed to be registered in October, but it wasn't until mid November from memory. We had all our plans etc approved and signed off on 17th December ready to go to CDC. Everything shut down until January (including CDC), so delayed for a month. CDC approval came mid February, did all our final sign offs and our 20 day wait is up next Friday They start construction then. Re: Elderton Homes - experiences & reviews 38Apr 03, 2014 11:20 am Thanks to everyone who replied!! We spoke with Elderton again, we've been looking through display houses again gaining ideas and got pricing on internal sliding/cavity doors, bulkheads, light changes, pantry extension, stacker door etc We were also informed that we can speak directly with the tiling company when doing color selections and arrange with them to do the additional rooms, Elderton doesn't arrange it for you, which we find easier anyway! We weren't aware that they gave you plans to get a measure and quote prior to completion for a comparison quote so will definitely be looking around once we have those! Seems like every time we get more answers it bring more questions and ideas! We are spending our time looking around so when we get to the selection stage we both have an idea of what we're looking for and don't umm and ahh too long (says the indecisive female) Have looked online for completed Elderton homes, all is look good so far!
