Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 28, 2014 4:38 pm After trawling round the display homes, we finally settled on Honegroups' monte carlo and are due to sign up this weekend. BUT . Just read some concerning posts on product review! Don't know what to do as I realize most product reviewers are likely to be complainers anyway. Anyone here recommend homegroup? Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 2May 28, 2014 5:42 pm Don't think I would base my opinion on a few bad reviews on a website, personally if you look at them sites people seem to love to complain but are not so quick to write a review when they are happy!!! If you love the design etc I would go for it there will be good and bad with every builder. I am building with Home Group but have only just gotten through the paperwork side of things so far so good. There are plenty of threads on here for you to check out though with lots of reading! That is just my 2 cents worth Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 3May 28, 2014 6:09 pm Thank you belzey. As I thought. Just got a bit jittery! I'll have a trawl around this forum a bit more! Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 4May 28, 2014 10:23 pm We are currently building our third house with HGWA and cant recommend them enough! No matter who you choose there will always be someone who has had a bad experience but as with everything you just need to take it with a pinch of salt. Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 5May 28, 2014 11:11 pm Thank you asha. Good to know. Feeling more positive about sticking with hgwa. They offer whatwe want at the right price. So I guess it'll be worth it if theybare a bit slower than some other builders Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 6May 28, 2014 11:44 pm Another Home Group-er here, we are building the Rivello. which is very similar to the Monte Carlo. Same as Belzey, we are finally at the end of the paperwork haul and waiting to go to site. By the time we get to site, it will have been eight months since we started discussions with Home Group and 6-7 months since we signed. From many of the threads on here, once they get to site, HG motor along and make up for lost time. I'm the same as the others, our experience for the most part has been positive and there have been no major delays. Our sales rep was fantastic, we've built before and he is the best we have ever dealt with in the last ten years. The pricing for HGWA is incredibly competitive and their specification is better than many other builders in the price range. We had a hiccup at prestart with some things missing from our plans that we thought we had already costed and we came to a compromise with HGWA picking up some of the tab ... it all comes down to being realistic and communicating. The Monte Carlo is a cracker of a house plan, between that one and the Bordeaux, Home Group are onto something. There's a few threads on here that have modified versions of the Monte Carlo that you might find interesting. Good luck with the decision and remember, Product Review is a helpful site but for every 1 person who complains there are many who just get on with the job. Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 7May 29, 2014 8:31 am Thank you marcia, the paper work sure does seem to take a while! Our land isn't titled until mid September so I'm guessing that's really when the clock starts? What do you reckon our chances are of being in by Christmas 2015? Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 8May 29, 2014 8:42 am If you get the ball rolling now you could have a large portion of the paperwork side of things done before titles are issued. If titles are available when they say they should be then you should be in months before chrissy 2015 Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 9May 29, 2014 8:55 am hi notjusta dreamer!!!! We are building the Bordeaux. We have just finish the brick stage and they are due to start the roof (I hope) next week. The paper work was SLOW, but the building is fast for us. from slab to bricks was 5 weeks. it took them 7 brick days to build our house and it's a BIG house. HGWA were the only builder with a house that ticked all our boxes and we got a lot of bonus space. We looked around for a builder to build us a home that would suit us at the price we wanted and HGWA were the only ones who could give us that. HGWA upgrade options are price ok too. change and upgrade the things you want before signing the final contracts. Read the thread things you forgot viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5823 Are you going to start a thread on your build? I am sure that we would ALL love to see what your ideas and home would look like!!!!! good luck on the weekend! Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 10May 29, 2014 8:58 am notjusta dreamer Thank you marcia, the paper work sure does seem to take a while! Our land isn't titled until mid September so I'm guessing that's really when the clock starts? What do you reckon our chances are of being in by Christmas 2015? I am with Asha! Start the paperwork now!!!! from signing the first contract to pre-start could be 3-6 months!!! Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 11May 29, 2014 9:30 am Thanks asha and 2 cupcakes plz. I'm definitely feeling more imspired! I will start a thread on our progress soon. Probably after signing this weekend Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 12May 29, 2014 10:04 am I agree with the others, if titles come on time in Sept and you have the paperwork mostly out of the way before then, you should be in by Christmas next year. I reckon between my thread (link is below in my signature, house plan is on page 1) and the following threads, you should get some ideas on what changes you could make to your house plan to make it even better than it is: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68859&hilit=monte+carlo viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61401&hilit=monte+carlo If you any help with costs to changes or upgrades ask on the forum, we're all happy to help out where we can. The Resort specs are pretty good but there's always more you can do Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 13May 29, 2014 12:04 pm I just wasn't sure if the site survey had to be done before any paperwork could be completed? Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 14May 30, 2014 11:29 pm Hey notjusta dreamer My little sis built the Monte Carlo. She encountered a fair few hipcups along the way. That was down to her having a useless site supervisor and that could happen with any company. Although she said to me the other day, through all the annoyances she went through she said it was worth it in the end cause she loves her home, its just what she wanted. Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 15May 30, 2014 11:43 pm Thank you. Yea I reckon whoever you build with there will be a chance something won't go to plan! I've searched a lot of different builders but this was the only one that had the rear living layout on a 15m wide block and left a bit of garden space to look at from the rear living!! With plenty of very nice inclusions as well!! Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 16Oct 17, 2014 12:11 pm Hey how are you? did you end up choosing HGWA, we are at the final stages of our build and would recommend HGWA to anyone, and problems we had they went all out to fix we built the monte carlo as well Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 17Oct 17, 2014 2:09 pm Hello cozandree. Yes we're all signed up n ready to go. Good to hear yours has been a positive experience. Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 18Oct 18, 2014 8:52 pm They are ok, you will just have to allow 6 month for their administration side before construction begin, realise that if you chose another company in 6 months time your house could of been completed after the administration Homegroup will take another 10 months to complete build. Tips for Homegroup WA prestart make sure that any upgrades or changes you make that they make deductions before they add the addition because they seem to always add cost, but sometimes can miss out on the deductions. If you chose a house package without the finishes, aircon, driveway. it will be a better option. as you will be better of doing it yourself, as you will be able to complete it faster and cheaper, for aircon just go to Ford and Doonan, Tiling just go to European tiles, Crosby tiles, carpet any local carpet store. + Also expect lots of delays in every trade. and no guidelines as to even an anticipated date of completion. save yourself time and money and see if you can get the option without the finishes, external works, and aircon and do a costing yourself. to see if you would be better off. Re: homegroup wa love the monte carlo, but should we sign? 20Oct 18, 2014 9:03 pm Also note that any limestone colour bricks for austral will go green in colour, so it ok if you have your front of house fully rendered but if not, expect a limestone and green front house. Prestart is probably still a while away for you but in the mean time if u do decide to do the package, check out crosby tiles, euopean tiles, and also carpet call head office. just tell them that you are building with homegroup wa and they will tell you what is included in their package, you want to try and get back to them asap with the prestart selections as if it takes 2 months to decide on the selections it will push u back 2 months in the queue of construction. 1 2965 Joe, it depends on your certifier but we are noticing the ones we deal with are really cracking down. So i would recommend you follow your approved landscaping plans to… 4 10927 |
