That seems so ridiculous. I'm sure we won't move before Easter now. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 183Mar 27, 2014 2:23 pm Is it actually the handles that is preventing PCI/Handover? Or is it certifications that they are waiting on? I know at the end of my 1st build, it was sitting ready for weeks as far as completing the home was concerned - but they couldnt actually do PCI or a handover until the certifications were completed and signed off. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 185Mar 28, 2014 1:34 pm I hate this house, I hate this land, I hate this process. Seriously gonna lose my you know what! Just got a call from my neighbour who is building with Denis Family Homes. I asked him to get a quote for the fence, as there are rocks and I thought it woudl be easier for the builder to remove them rather than us having to organise it ourselves. Anyway, Dennis Family Homes are saying that they will do the front half of the fence and I have to organise the back half with the rocks. NO WAY. I said I don't agree and asked that guy and he just says 'I don't know'. I was upset when I found out he was renting it out however I'm glad he won't be living next to me now. I've called Dennis Family Homes and have left a message, someone better call me this afternoon so I do have to think about it all weekend. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 186Mar 30, 2014 8:53 pm thats pretty bad!! Do the rocks fall on both sides of the block? As rocks can be quite expensive to remove. Sounds like you are having a big battle on your hands. I am hope you find a resolution Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 187Mar 31, 2014 7:07 am Yeah, the rock is on both sides. I'm sick of this process, it has been a nightmare since the beginnning. Its obviously the 'universe' telling us we shouldn't move into this house. There hasn't been one thing that has been easy. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 188Mar 31, 2014 3:12 pm I wouldn't have thought it was anything to do with the builder, just between you and the owner. I don't know the law in Victoria, but most places I've been, if agreement can't be found between owners as to what needs to be done, or the splitting of costs, the dispute would need to go to mediation. Maybe this will help. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 189Apr 01, 2014 7:34 am _lucinda, fencing is included in his contract, I think he's being d0dgy because he thinks I'm a dumb girl who doesn't know my rights or how to fight. Well, he's messing with the wrong girl!! Also, just found out yesterday that our SS is changing AGAIN, weeks before handover. So who knows how long it is going to delay things again, if the new guy has to go over everything again. However, our 'current' SS, said that PCI might be this week or next week, but I won't hold my breath. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 190Apr 01, 2014 11:31 am mjmelb, I am so sorry to hear of all your problems I will just wish you good luck and hope that you PCI will happen as early as possible and damn that neighbour... We hope it all works out soon too! Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 194Apr 01, 2014 6:32 pm well fingers crossed the new SS doesnt delay it any further! Because that would suck! Hopefully you will be in before easter, it looks like ours will be the week after now. But I guess we will see how it all goes Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 195Apr 03, 2014 7:51 am I spoke with (hopefully) our 3rd and final SS yesterday and am actually happy with the outcome (for the time being). He is aware that we've had a rough trot and that 3 SS's in the space of 4 months wouldn't make anyone happy so he said he'll try his best to get us in as soon as he can. He's arranging to meet us on Monday so we can do a 'kind of' PCI. It will all be done in a bit of a funny order but it will hopefully help us get our Certificate of Occupancy faster. I was suprised to hear however, that our handles had only just been delivered yesterday (should have been last Friday) and I'm guessing will be installed today. Our ceiling insulation also hadn't been installed and so he'd organised someone to do it yesterday who luckily happened to have another job cancelled and our fibre cables (or whatever) haven't been fit off. I really hope this new guy will get things moving and we can move in sooner rather than later. Oh, and I think our fence is organised too. The fencing company that quoted for next door actually did their quote in January and for some reason my neighbour never told me that there was a quote, that was why he then told me that they would only do half a fence as the fencing company had not heard from me....I told them that I never received anything...I have no idea why my neighbour never told me a quote was already done. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 196Apr 03, 2014 8:36 am Hi mjmelb, what a tough time you've been having! Hopefully your new SS goes the distance and you'll finally get to move into and enjoy your new home. As awful as some of your experiences have been, it's been so helpful for we newbies to read through your posts and know what to look out for. Thank you for being so open and honest in sharing your build. Wishing you a speedy handover (and nice neighbours) Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 197Apr 11, 2014 6:05 am Soo any news on handover? Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 198Apr 11, 2014 8:58 am No official news yet, final job for fixing everything up is booked for next Tuesday, SS reckons we could have handover before Easter, but I highly doubt it and don't think the bank will come to the party in time either. Re: Simonds Sierra - 3-4 weeks to go because of stupid handl 199Apr 11, 2014 2:14 pm Yea the bank will be the biggest issue unless you get the final payment now? We got ours last week and have already out it through so they better come through on time otherwise it will be a few more days later!! Haha Re: Simonds Sierra - 200Apr 16, 2014 12:01 pm So close, yet not close enough!! The house is ready to go now, however we're waiting on the bank to do the valuation correctly (apparently the report wasn't right). We could still have handover tomorrow but appliances wouldn't go in until next week. All good though as we have no idea when we'll move in now. We really wanted it to happen before Easter as I'm away for half of the easter weekend and we're both away the anzac day weekend and we both can't really have time off of work at the moment....so not great timing. 6 11528 Thanks mate.
