Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 101Feb 20, 2014 12:07 pm OMG how exciting!!!!!! You will be in for Easter very easily. NOw that the tiles have started watch the wheels turn lol...... Everything looks beautiful. I love the colour selections you have made. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 103Feb 23, 2014 2:08 pm Thanks rosaandben, I'm pretty happy with the colours, tried to go fairly neutral. I was intending on having grey tiles in the bathrooms so not sure what happened there!! I havent seen the tiling in person so cant wait to see, however I think it looks nice in the photos. stayxtrue, we havent been out there this week, we were in Adelaide which meant we couldnt check it out ( a good thing I thought). We have an inspection with our SS tomorrow so I cant wait to see whats happened in the last week, should be a fair bit. We should also get a timeframe tomorrow too!! Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 104Feb 23, 2014 8:05 pm AHHH well I look forward to some updates this week Iv been missing everyeones updates and photos lately! I love seeing peoples houses going up I am hoping to have a site visit this week as well and then go through with our SS and get a few things resolved that I am not to happy about, A few things in regards to handles not being even and so on. I look forward to some new photos Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 105Feb 24, 2014 12:11 pm We had our meeting with our SS today, he didn't have the time frame as yet, hopefully we should know in the next few days. Everything that was done this week was the less noticeable stuff, like electrical, plumbing, aircon, painting which was dissapointing. At least its getting there. Not sure if much is going to happen this week, I asked the SS and he said the shower screens should be installed. Seems our build is slowing down rather than speeding up. Considering they laid the slab on 14/12 - had christmas shut down and you are nearly finished at the end of Feb... thats such good progress. You'd have a few weeks maximum left. Some builds over here (not the Simonds ones luckily!) are 30+ weeks for a single storey... insanity. The last bit does seem a bit slow and patchy, but you're on the home stretch definitely! Before you know it everything will be installed and completed, floors will be last. But you will be in before us got sure!!! Your about 2 weeks ahead of us and out slab was laid before yours hahaha! But we had our SS go on 3 weeks leave after Christmas. It's looking really good! I like the bathroom tiles Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 108Feb 24, 2014 6:24 pm So exciting! Your house looks at about the same point as ours. We got our shower screens on Friday and they started carpet today. Most exciting thing was power hookup today though. My partner and I are pretty impatient at this point too... SS said two weeks left and then we're mentally adding at least an extra week for bank slowness lol. Our house building journey --- https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68842 Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 109Feb 24, 2014 9:35 pm I was just a little disheartened when I asked what would be happening this week and all he said was that the shower screens would be installed. He was a little off guard though because he had forgotten about our appointment, so maybe once he sat down and looked at things a little more was actually organised. We know a lot has happened behind the scenes, electrical/plumbing/aircon but its the noticeable things that are exciting unfortunately!! I'm just getting impatient!!! It's not far away but I've been waiting too long now! Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 110Feb 26, 2014 9:40 am How come everyone else thats built with Simonds seems to have got a close completion time frame once they got to about our stage, and for ours we've just been told to stick with the estimated time frame in our contract. That would be about another 5 months! I understand that they don't want to tell us something then it doesn't work out, but what in the world is holding it up that they are hesitant to say anything? Based on other Simonds builds, once they were at our stage they only had about another 2-3 weeks. I don't get it. Sick, sick, sick of waiting and don't want to extend my lease again. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 111Feb 26, 2014 2:22 pm It can be disheartening when things aren't running in sequence. I know we had a week of nothing and I died. But the volume in SA builds is less then Melbourne builds so thats a massive factor. Im impressed how quickly your home has gone up. Just know once trades are locked in its go go go. Your supervisor will know exactly whats going but he does rely on other people to make it happen so its good to of him to be cautious and not have too much high expectations as that will lead to great heartbreak. Hang in there. Considering the little pissy jobs are now done, it will get easier from there. Love it all Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 112Feb 26, 2014 6:30 pm I know the feeling... Out new SS had said due to delays it's going to take longer now, but then he said it could take less than 6 weeks but 8weeks or longer =\ I guess fingers crossed a lot happens soon and your in sooner rather than later Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 113Feb 27, 2014 8:53 am I've organised our blinds today. Dollar Curtains and Blinds came out on Monday to measure. The price is brilliant too. We're getting the double rollers in the front bedroom, with the sheer view and block out blinds and block out blinds everywhere else. I haven't organised any blinds for the laundry, main bathroom and toilet as I'm not sure what I want in those and I'm going to have some frosting done on the ensuite sliding door. All of the blinds will be dark grey. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 115Feb 27, 2014 11:39 am It was about $2300. That was for the double blinds in the front bedroom and block out blinds for 2 sliding doors, 2 large-ish windows and 3 bedrooms. Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 116Feb 27, 2014 12:36 pm That's really good! Great price. I'm doing my own through BlindsOnline, and Loveyablinds.com.au about $2000 for the house - mix of roller blinds and timber venetians. I have no idea how it'll go! I have seen their products installed and they were lovely, but knowing me I'll probably drill through something I shouldnt... haha Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 117Feb 27, 2014 12:42 pm Ahhh not to bad at all, I think I might get some quotes soon, apparently they take ages to order as well =\ so I think we might get them in soon to quote us Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 118Feb 27, 2014 1:10 pm Yeah, we were told about 4 weeks, thats why we've organised them now, so that they're hopefully ready for when we move in. I'd prefer not to have newspapers in my windows! Re: Simonds Sierra - Nearly finished 119Feb 27, 2014 2:42 pm Hahaha news paper is gone by me for the first little while haha!!!
