Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 04, 2013 12:55 pm Hello. My husband & I have signed up 2 weeks ago to build with Hickinbotham in Paralowie. This is our first home, so very new to the whole building experience I thought I would come on & see if I can find any future "neighbours" LOL or get any tips from current Hickies builders. Im looking forward to whats to come, but am very nervous also! Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 2Nov 04, 2013 1:07 pm Welcome Mishi congrats on the build my partner and I are building our first home too but up in mt barker with metricon we had signed a contract with hickies/statesman previously though Do you have a pic of the plan of your house or of your block?? There's a few hickies houses on the forum going up/just finished Siteworks 8/11 Slabbed 19/11 Our Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65703 Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 3Nov 04, 2013 1:21 pm Did your hickie contract fall through? Hope u didn't lose any money! I haven't heard of metricon.
I'm not sure how to attach a pic of our plan, but we are getting the tunisia, modified. http://www.hickinbotham.com.au/page/con ... s_type/181 The left side of house is brought forward 1.2m & the main bedroom ensuite & wir are flipped Our block is 12m x 30m across from a little reserve Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 4Nov 04, 2013 1:36 pm Hi and welcome. I am a Paralowie girl but not a neighbour. I am moving out of the area. Greentree Walk looks really nice. It is going to have a lot of reserves and the Little Para River and the added benefit for those in the general area is the roundabout being put in on the corner of Kings and Whites Rd which has been needed for a long time. As Davelle said there are a few Hickies builds on here for you to read through. Haven't seen any major issues with them since I have been on here and they seem to get the houses finished really quickly I look forward to seeing your build progress. Where are u moving to Tasha? I'm waiting for my first mail from hickies & hoping it will include a colour selection booklet That part is gonna be hard! Selections are nerve racking but at the same time the most exciting part before the build starts. So much fun putting it all together. Building the Leabrook with Fairmont Homes in Mallala, SA. So now our master plans & construction footing report to come Hachy I have looked at your thread & love your bathroom/ kitchen colours, I will be selecting very similar I think I had a look at the selection center today, coz I'm sick of waiting for my colour booklet lol. A few nice colours to choose from Hachy do you know if, for example the mosaic feature tiles, that are still bronze range are charged as extras?? Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 10Nov 23, 2013 8:34 pm Thought I would post a pic of our plans I have flipped them to show the way it will sit on my block http://s1035.photobucket.com/user/Mishl ... sort=3&o=0 Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 11Nov 24, 2013 5:32 pm Great block, superb position, and lovely plans, mishl_123. Congratulations on starting the journey to your new home. I agree with Hachy, it's the communication that is sometimes frustrating, but I see others here with similar problems with their builders. We've had what we think is a major problem so far--the hole--but the site supervisor brought in the engineer and invited us to meet with them to have it all explained. The tradies have been great and answered my questions when we've been able to talk to them on the site. Also, some of the selections are restrictive. If you really, really want something and they say flat out no, push a bit to see if there's some leeway. I did for back-to-wall toilets, and although they adamantly said no, at selections I was able to get them provided I agreed to the same supplier and specific inlet (I forget, bottom I think but might have been wall). Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 12Nov 27, 2013 11:53 am Hi Mishl We are looking at buying land in Greentree Walk, we have had our eye on a block for 6 months now and have been patiently waiting for its release. We have been told very little and were initially told that it'd be ready for release at the end of October. At the end of October we were told it'll be released 'shortly'. Four weeks later and nothing, its getting quite frustrating especially since there are at least 4 blocks in stage 2 that have been sold, with one of them being right next door to the one we want! Do you have any idea as to what the hold up may be? Thanks Dee (Jonno's wife) Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 13Nov 27, 2013 1:18 pm Hi, are you just going off the greentree walk website or though a builder house & land? The website doesn't seem to be up to date We knew the block we wanted in stage 2 & enquired twice for release date, then when it was released on website we enquired straight away & by the time our consultant got back to us it was sold. Last I heard hickinbotham only had lot 19 left for sale. Which block did you want? Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 14Nov 27, 2013 2:42 pm We were going from the GTW website as well as the Century 21 website. We weren't after a house and land package, we just wanted the land on its own and then find our own builders separately. Lot 22 (which is on the same street as yours) is land only and is the block we want. We have been in constant contact with an agent from Century 21 (the sales agent) as well as with the developer directly as they gave us more info than the sales agent was able to. The sales agent has given us the impression that we are 1st on the list for that block but now I'm worried that it will be sold without us knowing... fingers crossed! I've heard along the grapevine that there has been some kind of delay but not sure what or why. If you dont mind me asking, how much is your building contract? We are concerned about overcapitalizing if we spend too much on the build. I assume most of the homes in GTW will have 4 bedrooms, which is what we want but so far our building quotes have come back quite pricey! Thanks, Dee Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 15Nov 27, 2013 7:10 pm We have secured our land with Hickies but the land conveyencer still hasn't contacted us for a deposit, maybe that is to do with the delay. ??? I think you will be safe as you are dealing direct with century 21, not a builder Did you know about the council requirements, such as 25deg roof pitch & must have solar & 60m2 outdoor living space ect? These things have raised our price. I'll try pm you our build contract price Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 16Jan 29, 2014 12:19 pm jonnofoot We were going from the GTW website as well as the Century 21 website. Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 19Feb 11, 2014 9:04 am Oh, I do hope you have a fantastic time at selections. It is like Christmas--all those goodies to choose from. Re: Hickinbotham Homes - Green Tree Walk (Paralowie SA) 20Feb 14, 2014 5:47 pm We have also purchased our first home in green tree walk. Hoping building starts April. I also have a friend who is currently looking at buying a block in the same development. He has just been informed that all blocks, that have not been sold, have all increased in price. I cannot confirm this as they have removed the 'for sale' part of the website. @Mishl_123. Sorry if I missed it, but what stage are you in? Have you received land contracts yet? We signed building contracts months ago and are still waiting on land contracts. Hoping they come through soon.
