Hi all,
My first post!
What a great resource and community for people looking to build a house. I've only touched the surface but there is a fountain of knowledge I plan to spend the next few days scouring!
I'm in the market for a Knock Down Rebuild and I'm about to lay down my deposit to get the ball rolling. I am however a little curious (impatient) as to the associated costs. I found a great break-down thread and peoples respective site costs however I was wondering what ball-park I might actually be looking at.
My current house is in Zone 3 VIC, on bowling green flat land front to back, has easy access, has fencing on all sides except the front, has no tree's near the current or proposed house, no rocks etc and includes underground power. Obviously soil plays a part however having an existing house already on it, must mean something? My current house is single story, I'm wanting to build a 2 story. Does anyone have any thoughts and ideas on what the site cost might actually be for me?
As an aside, I have been entirely amazed at the lack of sales skills exhibited by many of the staff of he larger builders. I'd be fired in 5 minutes if I spoke and/or acted and/or was unable to answer what I would deem many basic questions in my line of work. :S Is this normal?
