Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 03, 2014 11:30 pm Hi, We are a couple of weeks out from our final builders interview and just found out that the builder needs to see a signed statement showing block pegs are in position and siteable. 'Survey Pegs Approval' - otherwise building cannot commence. Our block of land has all three sides of fencing up, it did when we bought the block and after a look today, we can't see any of the original surveying white peg markers. I have a feeling that the fences were built over the top of the 4 pegs. Looks like we'll have to pay to have the block surveyed again. Our builder said they can do it for approx $850. I'm going to see if I can find someone to do it cheaper. Has anyone been in this situation before or have any advice on the matter? Any input would be fantastic! The variations are starting to add up and another $850 is something we didn't need;-) Thanks Re: Boundary Identification help - no pegs but fences are up 2Jul 04, 2014 5:55 am That is a common problem. Re: Boundary Identification help - no pegs but fences are up 3Jul 04, 2014 7:11 pm Thanks Bashworth!:-) I'd be in a better spot if I could find at least 3 pegs on our block but unfortunately we have none. Live and learn. In hindsight, if I'd known it would end up costing me, I would have negotiated the surveying in the purchase on the land. Oh well! Thanks for the link, very handy:-) Re: Boundary Identification help - no pegs but fences are up 5Jul 04, 2014 8:45 pm I agree mgilla:-) I did a ring around yesterday/today and got 3 quotes... $990, $1100 and $1400. $850 is the best price, we'll be going through the builder at that rate Re: Boundary Identification help - no pegs but fences are up 6Jul 17, 2014 12:45 am This happen to us. Fences were built on top of our pegs n luckily we found 1 but it wasn't enough to pass bcos you needed 3 out of 4 to pass so we paid our builder $900. Re: Boundary Identification help - no pegs but fences are up 7Jul 17, 2014 1:02 pm Just in case you weren't aware; survey pegs are in the ground, the top of them is usually in line with the soil level at the time they are put in. The white/pink/yellow paint topped pegs you see on many building plots are simply to signal the approximate whereabouts of the official, inground peg. So my advice is to have a bit of a dig around in the area where the peg should be: they often get covered with dirt/grass etc and you may just save yourself hundreds of dollars. From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 3328 Hello. I just bought a few acres in Habana, Mackay, and my horses seem to love hanging around under this tree. I would like to name the paddock after this tree. Can… 0 9946 MATE!!!
