Browse Forums Building A New House Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 61Feb 02, 2014 9:22 am Nice size floor plan ours is 25.87 and ours already looks massive haha!! I'm stil a little unsure about our bricks but then again they don't have white morter in between them just yet so it will help lighten up the bricks a bit Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 62Feb 02, 2014 9:33 am Mirz we're about 60km north of Melbourne. (Closer to the city than we currently live but I didn't want to go any closer!) RE the back yard... No pool, there'll be a little shed out there for tools/lawn mower etc, I'm thinking some pittsotrums around the fence for privacy, I'd love a lemon tree somewhere and maybe a lime tree too, and the rest will just be lawn! If I get really adventurous later on I might do a chook run at the back, where the easement is, but will have to think about that coz I've never had chooks before Stayxtrue I can't wait to see how ours looks with plaster! It's going to be a million times bigger than the little 60s house we have now but I still worry we'll run out of space because we don't have the second living area 99% of new homes have now. Just paranoid I guess lol! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. It is great to see pace of new construction and development in northern suburbs. We love trees too. I brought few good trees from NSW. and now after 5-6 years when they are giving us fruit, we are planning to move out I setup a chook nook last year in fun for kids, but found it so useful. Free range eggs, and no more weeds in backyard. Kids just love them. Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 64Feb 02, 2014 2:48 pm Oh good stuff Yeah I love trees, I'm really going to struggle moving to the barren new estate - out current house has an 8 meter tree outside each window so no matter where you look it's trees! Will be very different when we move. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. And bedrooms must be a decent size as well! Do you have a floor plan? Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 66Feb 03, 2014 11:52 am I looked at the floorplan on the Mainvue website and you have an additional theatre room as well?? this would count as a second living room? Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 67Feb 03, 2014 11:57 am stayxtrue I looked at the floorplan on the Mainvue website and you have an additional theatre room as well?? this would count as a second living room? that's the same case with us, we are counting theater room as formal lounge room. Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 68Feb 03, 2014 1:13 pm Oh, we do have the theatre - sorry I should ave explained myself lol. The theatre will be an office/studio so I can partially work from home, so we'll only be using the actual living room for normal living space. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. More than enough room Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 70Feb 04, 2014 4:16 pm Hmmm I'm a photographer so I come with a LOT of crap lol. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Confirmed my suspicion, they look totally different colors in different lights lol. I saw them in the super bright arvo sun and they looked one color, then again around sunset and they were more the color I was hoping for. That's ok though, where we're building is notoriously crappy weather so should be overcast and the color I like more often than not :p Pictures to illustrate what I mean! In the sun, very brown: http://i1327.photobucket.com/albums/u661/mrst12/brown_zps5622e4c8.jpg In the shade, grey! http://i1327.photobucket.com/albums/u661/mrst12/grey_zps3ef09203.jpg The sample: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And on the Boral website: http://i1327.photobucket.com/albums/u661/mrst12/Clipboard01_zps766f24dd.jpg - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 75Feb 06, 2014 1:02 pm We had our independent pre-plaster inspection today. Hubby went along, said it was all good. A few small issues but nothing catastrophic, so we remain very happy with MV so far Bricks start today and plaster on Monday. Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 77Feb 10, 2014 12:02 pm Won't be much happening for us today, area is evacuated for the fires. This time next year will be interesting, we'll have to have some good fire plans ready. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 78Feb 10, 2014 12:39 pm ohh! Your in the direct firezone?? thats not going to be too much fun when your in fire season! My Auntie was evacuated yesterday due to the fires. a very crazy time indeed Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 79Feb 10, 2014 7:20 pm Yup. It'll be ok, so long as we're prepared. In a funny turn of events someone posted on a Facebook BSS page, some photos of the fire from their back window. They're they people behind our block, so we could see our house - and the brickies were working! Crazy folk, no way I would have been working there lol. On the other hand, yay our rocks have started! - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Our thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67954 Re: MrsT12s AM530 - Roofed 80Feb 11, 2014 7:55 am oh wow! hahaha thats kinda crazy! But at least they were working.. Our brickies are going so slow! This is their 9th day of laying bricks today and I dont think we are going to have our bricks completed for another week or more, I get the feeling they are doing half a day at our site and then moving onto another one, as all the did was the top section of the garage. So definitely not a full day I work with owner, he/she is my man on the ground and I instruct them when to visit the site and take photos and I have other tools in the bag. 4 15277 I am in the same situation, would you be able to give some insights in to this? I am in SA 8 17052 Depends what you're current inclusions are, but we're not including wardrobes and will just use second hand ones until we can save later on to get them built. Also have a… 3 11641 |
