Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 23, 2013 9:44 pm We are in the process of obtaining quotes for rendering our new home and have been looking at both coloured render and rendering/ paint options. Any thoughts on which method gives the best finish? The coloured render seems to be a bit cheaper than the other, but does that mean it is inferior? Re: Coloured Render VS Rendering & Paint 2Oct 27, 2013 7:01 am Get the coloured render, in my opinion. cheers Re: Coloured Render VS Rendering & Paint 3Oct 27, 2013 10:37 am The colour we wanted could not be mixed into our render so we are getting it painted. The builder assumes us that the paint is the one recommended by the render company and it is long lasting. I am hopeful. We don't have a lot of rendered areas on our house and we could repaint it fairly easily if we needed to later. so we did t get a choice. Maybe just check that the colour you want can be mixed in as that may make the decision for you if it can't be. Re: Coloured Render VS Rendering & Paint 4Oct 27, 2013 11:41 am I thought that acrylic render (coloured render) was more expensive. I am tossing between the two as well. The acrylic looks better IMO and requires virtually no upkeep. One issue is if it is chipped it is very difficult to colour match. Maintenance wise I haven't seen cracking or colour running/fading with the acrylic but see plenty of bad painted render jobs Re: Coloured Render VS Rendering & Paint 6Oct 29, 2013 5:03 pm Wonderful .... thank you for your input! We have had a look at the coloured render and very happy with the finish. We haven't actually chosen a paint colour yet, so that will be the next thing!
