Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 08, 2008 2:45 pm In relation to the time taken to build your house, from when the block is cleared for the slab through to when you got your keys.... how long did they say it would take? How long did it actually take? If there was a big difference between the times, what was the reason? Re: quoted time vs actual time 2May 08, 2008 2:54 pm This seems to depend largely on the builder - we are ahead of schedule with Porter Davis, and most people that build with them seem to get handover on time or early.
Some other builders have a different reputation (a quick search should provide you with some additional info). Cheers Re: quoted time vs actual time 3May 08, 2008 3:37 pm We were quoted 6 months when we started in mid December 2007. the hand over was scheduled on 30 May, but builder advised it could be a few days earlier (as early as 26 May). So in total less than 6 months! Re: quoted time vs actual time 5May 08, 2008 3:59 pm Ours was supposed to be about 22 weeks. They said it was ready at about 18 weeks and we had handover at about 22 weeks after they fixed the "issues"... Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: quoted time vs actual time 6May 12, 2008 1:17 pm it also mostly depends on weather...
And how fussy you are. If you picked up a lot of problems, it will take times and interruptions to original schedule to fix them. Re: quoted time vs actual time 7May 12, 2008 7:46 pm I think, as far as the contracted time goes, my builder has until the end of July to finish, but they'll be finished on Friday .
As far as timelines given by site supervisors: Site supervisor 2 estimated I would be moving in at the end of March. Site supervisor 3 (current and last site supervisor) suggested end of April. Received keys to my new home on 16/5/08 9 24816 1 13128 Can anyone give me any onfo on New Homes WA? Good or bad, hopefully good just need to know if my choice was good or not? Thanks ❤️ 0 8950 |
