Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 22, 2013 4:41 pm I am in the stage of looking at layout designs which suits my need with couple volume builders. Liked the design from Plantation and was suggested to FLIP the whole design due to the orientation of my land. Could anyone advice if this is the right way to go or is there a better solution to it? http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/houselayout_zpsbe6fbf8a.jpg would appreciate all the inputs. in my block of land, it will be no trees at all. But not sure about adjacent lands. Trees in neighbor blocks are around 20+ metres tall. a couple of them.....(they probably will cut them down too) Re: House Layout Orientation 2Oct 22, 2013 5:25 pm If it were me, i'd have the master and the rest of the beds at the rear and bring the living areas forward to the north side/front of the house. Reason being that if you have your master on the northern side your going to cop the sun all day and its going to be hot at night in summer and most probably uncomfortable during the day in summer as well, like you wont be able to sleep in til 11 or 12 because the sun will be pounding your house and heating the front rooms up. Thats just my opinion though Re: House Layout Orientation 3Oct 22, 2013 6:07 pm For a north facing block the way you have it above is going to be the best. You really want to minimise west facing windows as they are the worst for overheating the house in summer. The drawing shows reasonable eaves so the front bedroom should be reasonably shaded in summer but will get the winter sun. The study is going to get hot in summer so something like a small pergola would be good The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! A reflective film is better than a 'tint' Balcony or pergola it doesn't have to be big to keep the summer sun out. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end. A quick search on… 3 8423 |
