Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jul 23, 2012 11:15 pm After going through tender with Simonds, we were having second thoughts about them and decided to go checking for plan B. Never thought of MainVue but a friend at work is building with them so we checked them out on one weekend. Originally going for the Cullen on display at Epping but then fall in love with the Emporio there. It's a long story but we've just been through Tender. Lots of mistakes and corrections on the tender document where things not matched with quote and promotions. We're glad to have done our homework. It's good that all has been corrected now. Waiting to sign contract! Hopefully can get some pics of real Site actions on our blog soon! Would be great to see more blogs of MainVue fellows !!! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 2Aug 02, 2012 9:46 pm It would be a mistake not to increase ground floor to 9" as picture windows height won't line up with sliding doors otherwise! It's good that this was pointed out by our sale consultant during a site visit. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 3Aug 03, 2012 1:20 pm I know it may be rare but if anyone building the Orleans facade please kindly share a photo of what do they look like in real life? We're building one and really keen to see one with part render only at the front porch. Wondering if we should make the moulding different Colour! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 4Aug 04, 2012 9:43 pm Hi TTVA, I am looking at the Emporio ER432 but haven't made the decision. You mentioned stone bench upgrade to 40mm in your blog on spotblog. Is $1500 for all or only for the one in the kitchen? I also want to raise the ceiling of groud floor to 2740mm. Did you go for that? Cheers. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 5Aug 04, 2012 10:12 pm Hi Dana, Looks like that's for all Benchtop upgrades. Our original quote contains estimate for 20mm stone bench upgrade in laundry as well cos standard comes in Laminate. We found upgrade GF to 2740mm is a must to have good windows alignment so we did. We upgraded FF to 2590mm as well. Good luck with your home shopping! Cheers! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 8Aug 04, 2012 10:56 pm My suggestion with your initial quote is to add everything upgrade as displayed. You can then working backwards at your own time to see what you can take out to suit budget. You can also ask for alternative upgrade that is cheaper than display but same wow factor. Sale consultant is very helpful in this aspect. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 10Aug 06, 2012 4:55 pm Can't wait for the D-day of Demolition !!! (just been told may be happening in couple of weeks time) It's been a month since our engagement with the Demolisher !! A lot of waiting due to council consent, surveyor permit, the assessment of the protected tree in our backyard and abolishment of services (gas & elect). Hope to be able to hand over the house to MainVue soon after contract signing next week so we could make it for site start in September (as planned) ! Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 11Aug 07, 2012 3:22 pm Hi TTVA, Regarding the stairs, did you go with the standard plastered wall balustrading with capping to top? A quote for glass one is $10K!!! The stainless steel rod one is also more than $4k. How is that priced? Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 12Aug 07, 2012 3:37 pm Hi Dana, We also questioned the same thing to Sale Consultant. Apparently, the glasses are thick toughen glass which is very expensive. Therefore the price. We love it but at the same time think it's not worth it for that much. I think the standard plaster will separate the openess between the retreat area and the staircase. Not sure if that really matters but I think it would be a very different feeling when walking up the stairs compared to the display home. We're making a more conservative choice by going with the S/S rods instead. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 14Aug 07, 2012 4:22 pm By the way, you can add in a door from garage to access the understair space as storage. I find this is very useful. Note also the rangehood provide has quite low suction flow rate (<400m3/s). We have credit for taking it out and replace one from their Hardings catalogue with better suction flow rate ( > 900m3/s). I guess it depends on your style of cooking. I yet found out how much this cost cos we only realised about it after tender. Will do at Contract Signing. I'm very interested in the appliances they install or offer. We were looking at induction hobs vs gas, but this will ultimately be decided by cost. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 16Aug 07, 2012 4:44 pm MainVue source all appliances from Hardings. You can check out their catalogue (with prices) on this link: http://www.hardingshardware.com.au/appliances.html Anything else you may have to do yourself after hand-over. We chose the 90cm CU79 CONCEALED HOOD with 960m3/h air movement. One good review from product review website. We didn't take their Tecknica dishwasher either as there were very bad reviews from product review site. Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 17Aug 07, 2012 4:56 pm Thanks for that - did the credits you receive amount to anything close to the price in that catalog? Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 18Aug 07, 2012 9:10 pm It was approx. couple of hundreds difference. I guess they call it's builder's margin. So if my new rangehood amount to more than catalog price then does that mean we've been double dipped for builder's margin? Re: Building Emporio ER432 with MainVue 19Aug 07, 2012 9:16 pm Would guess so and I would expect it - but be ready to fight for it to be reduced! Acutally when I was reading the master plan last night, I was thinking how to access the space under the stairs. I have asked for the garage extension option for my tools and extra storage is always better. I will also take your points when selecting rangehood and dishwasher.
