Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 17, 2013 1:54 pm Hi I am new to the whole building thing. My house slab was finished last Friday. The builder sent the invoice for that stage that afternoon. I sent it to the bank and the guy I am dealing with there replied yesterday saying that he has sent it in for processing. How long has everybody found the banks take to process the first payment? Also, will the building company just continue on with the frame stage while they wait for their payment or do they stop until payment has been received from bank? It has taken over 7 months to get from talking to the builder to the base stage so I am (a) impatient and (b) excited Sorry if this question has been asked before. Thank you Re: Base to Frame stage 2Oct 17, 2013 2:33 pm the first payment usually takes longer, but is should not be more than 5 working days, i reckon. my builder started the frame even before i forwarded the invoice to the bank. hahaha. i think it depends on your builder whether they wanna wait for your payment. my frame started 3 days after the slab was poured. Re: Base to Frame stage 3Oct 17, 2013 8:16 pm Cool, thanks for that. I drove past today and nothing has been done. I am presuming they are waiting for payment. Re: Base to Frame stage 4Oct 17, 2013 8:51 pm Your bank might do a valuation which can add delays. There are high volumes of building activity at the moment, particularly in States that still have generous first home buyer incentives. This means that many banks are handling lots of construction loans at the moment. My first stage payment took 5 days. The second stage payment took 1 day.
