Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 41Feb 18, 2014 7:12 pm We chose to have dry wall plaster on the walls instead of the plaster and white set. We chose this because it is easier to paint and if anything happens to the walls the option we have chosen is better to patch. All the ceilings have been finished which is nice, the house is really coming together and it is becoming a lot easier to picture how the rooms are going to look when all is done! Now to the bad stuff, we received a phone call from HGWA to say that our kitched doors and drawer colour was not available and there was no date where the manufacturer would say it would be ready. We chose Mist grey in a gloss and the gloss is the problem. The people who supply the doors etc could not do any gloss colours from any company due to the problem. So we have had to go back into the colour selection place and rechoose a colour that still matches all the tile and bench tops selections. Very annoying to say the least!! I do feel sorry for the poor girl that has the job of telling everyone that the colours they have chosen arent available and they have to choose something else. She was very apologetic throughout the calls back and fourth!! Second bad thing that has happend is that the entry door which we upgraded to a 1200 wide with glass and a big handle etc was fitted but they have put the standard handle on it. An email was sent with a picture saying that it was wrong and the CLO is chasing it up for us. Hopefully the handle that is currently on the door wont leave marks/holes whcih can be seen with the handle that we chose! On the brighter side of everything we are at lock up and all the pantry and robe shelves are being installed so the progress is going really well. I just hope everything continues to happen without delays from here on in. One or two things will go wrong as a house has lts of details! They may get you a whole new door Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 44Feb 27, 2014 4:51 pm We had the normal small door handle on our 1200 until about 2 weeks ago. Then they installed the proper large handle. Goodluck with rest of build. Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 45Mar 17, 2014 11:39 am Bit of an update: Everything is running pretty smoothly, the door handle was changed after a few back and forward emails. HGWA stated that we did not choose the handle that we thought but going back over all our notes it looks like HGWA did not write down the correct handle so they have changed it for us at no extra cost...winning!! All our kitchen and bathroom cabinets have been installed but we were informed that the stone benchtops colour we chose is not available for 3-4 weeks, a little anoying as we chose this during prestart over 6 months ago! More anoying for the tiler who will have to come back to finish teh tile around the kitchen. Handover has moved out a little to be the first week in May from the 30th of April. With Easter and ANZAC day at the end of April HGWA doesnt think they will be able to acheive the 30th of April date so at least they are keeping us informed along the way. It is just makingit hard to lock in trades to complete concrete polishing, painting, window treatments and carpets before we move in. On two occassions two weeks ago we were told that the Handover date would still be the 30th of April. They were saying this without booking in a PCI date. Then we got to the 24th of April and still no PCI date. Looking through the house there is no way they will be hitting the handover date of the 30th of April. So a long very annoyed email was sent to HGWA stating that we were renting and all along you have given us the date of 30th of April so therefore we were moving out of our rental on the 7th of May. Rentals where we live are so hard to come by and are not to be given up easily especially good ones!! We got a call from HGWA saying that they will not be able to make the deadline of the 30th of April for PCI let alone handover. We hav booked in PCI for the 2nd of May and as of the 5th of May we can have our trades come in and start work that we are doing ourselves. It was good to see some flexibilty with this from HGWA. Still there is a gap from when we can get in to the house and leaving our rental. Hopefully the rental people will allow us to stay for a couple of extra days, fingers crossed!! I know of this happening to so many home builders, they base their house settlements and rental leases ending on what the builder or CLO says only to have to move in with friends or relatives for a few weeks. Fingers crossed for you it happens as quickly as possible. Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 49May 05, 2014 11:46 pm belzey how did your PCI go Adam? Hi belzy, PCI was ok, I didn't really think the house was at a stage for us to do PCI properly as there are lots of things not finished! There were still trades coming in and completing work while we were doing PCI. It just gets a little frustrating when everything was supposed to be done but there are certain things that the SS doesn't even know when the products are going to be available!! Handover is supposed to be Wednesday the 14th, we have our trades going in this week to start what they need to (painting and polished concrete in the living, dining, entry, study and kitchen) The fun and games with HGWA continues Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 50May 06, 2014 12:07 am That really is poor form on their behalf...really hope they get it all finished off and ready for you guys by then, did you sort out your rental so you can stay for an extra week or 2? The end is close though which is a good thing and exciting Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 52May 13, 2014 11:06 pm Good luck with hand over tomorrow Adam hope all goes smoothly. We finally had our pad poured last Friday, which was very unexpected with all the rain and bad weather. So our ball is finally on the roll. Can't wait to see the final pics of your build. Hey also I saw that you had to re select your kitchen colour? We chose Mist Gray Gloss for our kitchen so I suppose we will get a phone call soon about that we already had to re choose out bathroom tile as it was discontinued. Re: Cambridge, Home Group WA 54May 14, 2014 11:05 am Good luck for today Adam! I hope HGWA pull their act together and get everything sorted for you ASAP!! 4 14463 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds.
