Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 12, 2013 11:59 pm So we bought a block about a year ago in Emerald Park, Wellard, but then the bank wouldn't lend us anymore money to build our home on it. Finally able to build now and have just signed up with Home Group WA. We are building a 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom modified version of The Grand Avenue. Any feedback from anyone who has built with them recently on timelines after signing? He said we should receive our prestart pack within about 3 weeks? What happens next? Tia

Any feedback from anyone who has built with them recently on timelines after signing? He said we should receive our prestart pack within about 3 weeks? What happens next? Tia Hello! We built with HGWA and moved in February this year. I have a fairly comprehensive timeline on the first page of our thread. http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=51894 I LOVE the avenue! they released it not long after we signed and I was like OMG, love but couldn't change. ours still has all the same parts though From memory I think we got prestart pack in January and we signed on 15th december so with christmas three weeks is probably about right.... let me know if you have any questions! happy to help! Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 3Oct 13, 2013 10:56 am hi we got ours from HGWA about a month ago. we got ours on the same night as signing the contract! we had sign the pre contract months ago and it took us 3 months to get the house plans just right. we have more to change at pre start that will be in dec. we are building the Bordeaux with 6 bedrooms and two kitchens of sorts. we first sign up in April and sign the contract in sept. the plans are being drawn up in oct 14 and sent out to us in nov and prestart should be before xmas I must check out the Avence our sales person is Ryan Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 4Oct 13, 2013 12:15 pm Hiya! My partner and I also built with HGWA (though when we built they were still Scott Park homes) and moved in just over a year ago in September 2012. Timeline is on the front page of our thread (see signature below). Good luck with your build, they did a wonderful high-quality job and I definitely recommend them as a builder! Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 5Jan 22, 2014 4:31 pm This is our houseplan. Because our block is an odd shape we have designed it with a zero lot wall so that we can have back yard access through the garage.

Only question is do you know how big your fridge will be? Most doors need to open past 90 degrees. Also how deep is the recess as you don't want it sticking out blocking the cabinets opening. I did wonder if you've considered swapping WIP door and the fridge recess? Just a thought... Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 7Jan 22, 2014 5:30 pm Hmmmmmm good observations. I knew I should've asked for advice sooner. TBH I hadn't even thought about it as we didn't change that from the original design. Our current fridge will fit fine.
Original Plan Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Don't think we can change it now so I hope it is ok Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 8Jan 22, 2014 5:43 pm you have good storage space in your L'dry and I like how you have used the garage wall on the block it give you more garage space and less dead space between the wall and fence Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 9Jan 22, 2014 5:45 pm how did you get the front elevation in colour? did HGWA do it for you? Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 10Jan 22, 2014 5:52 pm Yeh. They aren't the colours we are having but pretty close as far as dark & light go Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 11Jan 22, 2014 11:46 pm Design looks great!I like how you have a lot of windows in your living/kitchen.... we will have one big sliding door and then hopefully a glass window splash back, I hope it lets enough light in! I also like the store, very handy! 5th bedroom was a good idea too - can still be an office if needs be. Your block looks to be a good size too! Will be keeping an eye on your build. Thanks we were lucky to get a decent sized block 716sqm (although it is an odd shape, narrow at the front and wide at the back). I am a little worried about there being too much light in the living/kitchen as they are west facing windows. Oh well I guess I can always tint them. I was really happy with the way they helped us work in the 5th bedroom and still keep the activity room and theatre Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 13Jan 23, 2014 12:15 am our living area faces west too. we are having a big patio down that whole so it should keep the sun away Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 14Jan 23, 2014 12:30 am 2-cupcakes-pls our living area faces west too. we are having a big patio down that whole so it should keep the sun away I think we will probably end up doing the same Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 16Jan 28, 2014 6:37 pm Your plan looks really good, love the big shower and all the storage space in the garage/WIP/linen/WIR/store Your plan looks similar to my sisters, she is building with HGWA in Emerald Park too. Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 17Jan 29, 2014 10:12 am Hi felicity. Thanks. Storage storage storage we learnt that from our first build. I would love to see for sisters house plan. How far is she in the building process? Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 18Feb 13, 2014 7:08 pm Yay, finally got our pre start date. 25th Feb @ 9:30am woohoo....still waiting on our working drawings though.....should be here by tomorrow fingers crossed Re: Our Home Group WA build in Emerald Park, Wellard 20Feb 14, 2014 12:01 am When you go through your notes on the things you want to change and the colours, keep all your notes so when you get the final paperwork you can go through them and make sure that all your changes and sections are in the final paper works. Take your time!! Yes, I have. But, I haven't paid yet. They know they did not do proper jobs and I sent the email re: final payment, I cannot pay. They said, we will do 2nd PCI.
