Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 11, 2013 1:26 pm Hi We have purchased a block of land in Crace and now at the stage of finding builders. We are confused as everyone says about the same thing and we might not know until we experience. I just thought it would be a good idea to get soem feedback from someone who has built with the following builders: 1. Viscon Homes 2. Synergy Building 3. APA Homes 4. Diamond Builders 5. Blackett Homes In the end its more about a good experience and gettign the house that you want without much hassle. I would aprpeciate any advice/ feedback that comes through. Thank You! Re: Guide on Good builders in Canberra 2Oct 11, 2013 9:38 pm We are in the process of building with Blackett Homes and based on their performance to date would recommend them without hesitation. Haven't had anything to do with the others you mention, but the following builders also build in Crace: Renaissance Homes were also very good. They have a smaller range than some of the others but are priced competitively and build a very nice house. Their display at Wright is worth a look. Today's Homes also builds in Crace, and while we didn't go with them in the end they appeared to be well run and very professional. Definitely worth a look. You might also look at Classic Constructions, though we felt they were more a boutique builder than some of the others. Their pricing was certainly higher. Happy to elaborate on anything. Re: Guide on Good builders in Canberra 3Oct 12, 2013 7:50 am @Shiro Thank you for your reply!! I have heard of Classic and Today's homes. I am not pretty sure of Today's homes but Classic definitely seem to be pricey builders though considered really good. Hence, the idea of not going with them. I was told that if Classic gives you a quote of 350K you can get it build by another builder in like 300K. So i am not really keen to go with them though i have heard good reviews in terms of quality with Classic. I will check the others that you mentioned. I hope to be able to get a few more reviews before i decide. Blackett was good however, i heard from someone that they had gone bankrupt a while ago and are now back in business which made think a little but their display homes were good nonetheless. Its just the mixed reviews for everyone which makes it hard for me to decide. C Re: Guide on Good builders in Canberra 4Oct 12, 2013 3:31 pm Hi again As far as I am aware Blackett has never gone bankrupt. Given that there were some builder bankruptcies at the end of last year we were very careful about who we chose and did some asking around. Haven't been able to find anyone who has a bad word to say about them. We are still in the early stages of the build, but all the sites we have looked at on weekends have all been very good. They appear to have some very good brickies working for them! Wow I hadn't realised things had gotten that pricey in just a couple of years since I built, that is crazy with how much land is now costing if you aren't lucky enough to… 3 7135 9 24814 Thank you. Do I use timber floorboards for stairs or do people use timber treads? Or is both the same? 6 7302 |
