We just got our log in info to look at selections so will let you know what else we need pricing on. Am wondering re: bathroom acc, taps, showers etc if we see something from caroma/stylus/etc that we like, but it's not on RI selection list can we still have RI quote it? We got our thank you plant today!!! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 43Jan 21, 2014 8:03 pm The plant yay. Is a good idea to visist the coroma shop .we forgot all about it and went the morning of prestart. Maybe we should of stayed away lol. yeh you can get what taps etc costed from redink .when you go to the store pick up a copy of what you wont .i hope that helps Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 44Jan 21, 2014 9:47 pm Are you having the Interior Designer appt? If so, it makes life alot easier. RI will cost up any selections / items you want BUT note that if they don't do "bulk" ordering of the item it will probably be $$$. Just take in printouts of the item alternatively you can get the standard plumbing items & then change them over afterwards (probably save you money doing it that way) Our RedInk Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64118&p=1004131#p1004131 ** Timeline Page 1 Moved In - 19.12.13 Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 45Jan 21, 2014 10:38 pm Thanks charlie. Yes, definitely going to use the interior designer appt. I will be the first to admit I don't have a good eye for design stuff. Seems everyone says to go into appt with a pretty good idea of what you want though, is that right? We're going to be away for 3 weeks next month so it'll put a bit of delay in our timeline so we're trying to make some decisions and visit the shops now so when we get back we can just get to prestart and get going. We'll see... Am assuming everything will be slower than I think it will be Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 46Jan 29, 2014 8:09 pm Posting to follow ardie514 Just had a look at your plans and they look great! Definitely room there to fit in a great pool! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 47Feb 04, 2014 8:16 pm Hi Ardie514 We are building our first home with celebrations, we were really close to building with RI before we decided to go with celebration homes. Keen to follow your progress. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 48Feb 17, 2014 10:33 pm Hi Ardie, anything more happening for you?? Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 49Feb 22, 2014 12:09 am Hi treesachanger, thanks for checking in. been away on holiday for past few wks so just catching up. No news really. We were assigned an office liason, plans being assessed or something. Had hoped to have prelim contracts and working drawings when we got back and pre start soon, but alas nothing new since we left. Will check in w builder next week. Hope you had a fantastic trip! I feel for you with the waiting game! It really is horrible! Hav eyou had any news from Redink this week? Hopefully you can get a pre start date soon! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 52Mar 05, 2014 2:42 pm Well really not much to report. Our plans went to drafting just over 5 weeks ago (panraptor if you're there, I use your visual about the slow motion walk across the office ). So we're supposed to have prelim contracts and prestart contact soon. But basically still waiting...... On the bright side we seem to be narrowing down our inside and outside color choices. We found a floor tile that we LOVE and a bamboo color that we're excited about and I'm still working hubby over on Sorbet benchtop over New Crystal Salt. I think I'm winning the battle slowly but surely Without working drawings though we can't really get full quotes on flooring, backsplash, etc and we want to include all that extra stuff in our mortgage so need to get quotes to show the bank. Question to those of you with a pool, or planning on a pool. What do I need to know and look for in getting a quote? Does the pool company just quote pool and equipment? I assume fencing and whatever flooring is around the pool are separate quotes? What does the builder need to do/know if we're getting a pool? What am I not asking because I haven't got a clue We're going to the pool and outdoor expo this weekend and all I know is that I'd like to install a pool, but don't quite know where to go from there. It's my understanding that it's cheaper to do it at the time of initial build vs later down the track. If we can get it wrapped up in mortgage then we may be able to pull it off. Appreciate any/all advice. Thanks. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 53Mar 05, 2014 6:00 pm ardie514 Well really not much to report. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 54Mar 09, 2014 9:38 pm posting to follow. How did you go with the pool expo? We are thinking pool too, not sure whether to get the pool dug in as part of site works or wait till after house is finished? any info gleamed would be appreciated Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 55Mar 10, 2014 1:45 pm Pool expo was helpful, but we haven't committed to anything yet. It was hard to sit down w reps at show and get info as was super crowded. I met w someone at freedom pools last week and he gave me some good pricing info and explained what's included, what's not etc. and their"show special" is good for 2 weeks. Now waiting on a few more quotes. I keep being told it's cheaper to install pool at time of build, but not exactly sure why. Apparently most builders don't like you having pool dug before slab etc, and also extra cost to fence and board it, but I haven't asked our builder about it yet. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 56Mar 10, 2014 9:57 pm So, some tiny progress is being made. Plans apparently out of drafting and gone through council assessment, or something. Now site costs and then contracts. Have been told up to 3 weeks. Since everything so far has taken the maximum possible amount of time I'll assume 3-4 wks:-) then we'll book prestart. I've been assuming PS would happen end April so on track for that. Gives us roughly 6 weeks to make up our minds about colours! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 57Mar 12, 2014 11:24 pm Anyone know how much it costs to upgrade bathroom sinks to undermount? Have seen them in a bunch of redink displays. Thanks Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 58Mar 13, 2014 12:47 am Hi ardie, We are looking at a pool too I read that you aren't from Australia, are you English by any chance? My English husband is the leading the rally for a pool...he seems to like that we get so much sun over here (but that means I get the say on the kitchen and interior design ). we have found David from Freedom Pools to be really great. We were initially looking at getting the pool before the build starts (after site works) so we could avoid underpinning our theatre. But we'd still need to pay for the pool to be boarded over anyway which is around 1K, and we haven't got the $$$ to pay for the pool before the build. We'd rather not put it in with the mortgage so we'll be getting it after the build...although we've had to pay for the extra support to the theatre. Pool fencing we'll be doing ourselves, Bunnings and Masters have DIY semi-frameless and frameless fencing that is so much cheaper, and they've got tutorials as well. We'll also get the piping in for a pool water blade but we are going to try and do it ourselves, we were quoted around 4K from memory for a blade and feature wall...pretty steep! We are in the process of looking at colours for the house interior as well...that's the fun part! Have seen them in a bunch of redink displays. Thanks I upgraded to a rectangle undermount sink in my ensuite for about $450 from memory. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Early days 60Mar 13, 2014 3:53 pm Thanks for that. I expected it to be much more expensive so that's very cool. I really like the look of the undermount and easier to clean. Thanks justy. You're the second person to recommend David from freedom! I'm definitely leaning towards them. We are trying to include in our mortgage, so working on all quotes etc now. Nope, not British, a yank actually:-) though in 3 months we can apply for aus citizenship, we're very excited!
