Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1241Sep 07, 2015 10:29 pm my vote is with the grey Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1242Sep 07, 2015 11:09 pm Oh I very recently went through the very same dilemma (I still have the surfmist, monument and wooden slat samples in my garage). I ended up going for the wood look to match both my garage door and the front door. I'm so glad I did! Monument would have brought the whole aspect down. Too much black/charcoal is depressing, especially when you have a black roof! The surfmist was too stark when combined with the light render of both the wall and house. The difference in the render though. Wood look aluminium slates worked against the light render, but I think it will clash with the yellow tones in your limestone wall. So tough! My partner and I are both looking at the mock-ups. I'm leaning towards white, while he thinks grey is better. Although that would be a lot of white It could go either way. If it were my wall, I'd render it, but I'm not particularly partial to limestone. Everyone has different tastes I suppose! I'm not much help at all. Good luck deciding! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1243Sep 08, 2015 9:03 am We would love to render it but it's more $$$ and right now we're just trying to get all the necessities done for as little as possible. Pan, would you recommend your renderer? Can't hurt to get a quote I guess. If we render I think we'd render in monument with surfmist slats. Also did you acrylic texture your wall too or a regular sand finish? Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1244Sep 08, 2015 5:40 pm I've got a random question for you all. On my walk to school today I noticed these little white antenna looking things on almost every house and I'm wondering what it is. Here's a picture. On the top right and left corners are 2 houses next to us.

If you render, consider the cedar slats....I think they look amazing against grey or greyed whites like surfmist. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/b609/WestAussieforeva/cedar-fence-timber-slats-and-caststone-pillars-300x199_zpsnaoiwifr.jpg Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1246Sep 08, 2015 6:06 pm Can't really see it from those pics Ardie! I wouldn't render those beautiful limestone blocks Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1247Sep 08, 2015 6:09 pm Didn't want to look like a stalker so I tried a quick pic. There's a little white thing coming off the gutter on the top right side of the picture on one house and then on the top left side off gutter on the house next to them. It's got a little pointy thing sticking down, Not sure how else to describe it. I'll see if I can zoom it in an post. Just got another quote on render and it's about as much as sheer curtains on the stacker doors. I think I'm going with the curtains, they're prettier Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1248Sep 08, 2015 6:20 pm ardie514 Didn't want to look like a stalker so I tried a quick pic. Standard sizes are so cheap and well made. Bigger sizes are more expensive tho. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1249Sep 08, 2015 10:05 pm Ardie I think they may be related to security systems - maybe monitored alarms or something? Who knows. My first thought was these weather station things to measure wind speed etc - but I wouldn't have thought many people had those! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1250Sep 08, 2015 10:29 pm Sorry to chime in on your build thread like this, long time stalker haha. Loved reading through the build log, and seeing the finishing touches come to fruition, looking forward to doing it ourselves. Those things on the gutters are wireless rain fall sensors, they tell the reticulation controller when there has been enough rain fall to disable the retic temporarily. Product info here: http://www.hunterindustries.com/irrigat ... rain-clikr Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1251Sep 08, 2015 11:06 pm i would suggest they are rain sensors for the retic systems. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=reti ... 20&bih=919 Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1252Sep 09, 2015 12:04 am MalSannie Ardie I think they may be related to security systems - maybe monitored alarms or something? Funny my very first thought was the weather station too but then I saw everyone had one and that seemed odd. Second thought was security but again that everyone would have it seemed off. I'm pretty sure the neighbourhood isn't too rough Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1253Sep 09, 2015 12:07 am Thanks Matt and Erin and Perth Euro that totally makes sense and wouldn't have occurred to me. Almost everyone probably used the estate landscaping company so they'd all have the same sensor. Our landscaping hasn't been done yet so guess that's why we don't have one yet. Thank you! I think for now we'll keep it limestone. I'm still leaning towards surfmist slats. Hubby decided this morning he likes grey I'll check out freedom for the sheers but it's a three panel stacker door and it's pretty big. I got 3 quotes and the company we used for all the other window treatments was again far and away the most reasonable. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1256Sep 09, 2015 3:12 am Hehe so I was way off the mark - what a good idea though! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1257Sep 11, 2015 9:22 pm Never crossed my mind either MalSannie Our retic valve was installed early this morning. Opened garage door to head to school drop off this am and two guys were in the driveway they were very nice and apologetic for startling me. Landscaping booked to begin on 25th!!!! Thankful we'll have a yard during school hols. Finally got our rug for living room. Wish we'd gone with bigger size but was just so expensive. I don't think it's too horribly small. The colour may be more practical as well? Your rug looks lovely...if you move it out from your lounges about a foot on both sides you may find it gives the illusion of filling that space for you. And still provides warmth under your feet Just a thought! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1259Sep 12, 2015 7:10 pm I love the rug - so lovely and colourful and it doesn't tie you to one specific colour! It is a deceptively big space to fill isn't it? I've done a gif animation of the 3 different colours to confuse even more Sorry! http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j68/MalSannie/Ardie_zpsklxvdtre.gif Minimum overhang into gutter must be 50mm, turn down tool should not split the sheet. it seems wrong tool for the profile was used, the flashing cannot slope back.
