Am still so undecided. The grey does look nice, wondering if it will create a lot of extra heat? That's our western exposure and our bedroom is right there. I'm quite sure that I'm overthinking this Also, just emailed the company where we bought the rug to see about exchanging for the larger size. Might be worth the splurge. Tried moving it around per your suggestion rache, but then the gaps were really bothering us. We thought we measured up correctly before ordering, but clearly we didn't do such a hot job I do love the rug though. Totally not what our original plan and vision had been, but things have changed. I do think it warms things up in the big room. We are preparing our yard for the turf to go in at the end of the month. We fully weeded and prepped, but now weeks and weeks have gone by since we prepped and they booked us for install so of course the weeds have come back. The landscaping company suggested spraying before they install the turf so weeds don't keep coming back up through the lawn. We would really like to avoid the use of chemicals like glyphosate (Roundup) if possible, but also don't want our new lovely lawn to get ruined by weeds. Anyone have any recommendations for best non-toxic way to prep the dirt now? Thank you! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1264Sep 13, 2015 3:19 pm Malsannie! You're a genius!! I like the white, or if you were to render the wall in white, than the grey would look great. I like the white, or if you were to render the wall in white, than the grey would look great. I use gimp which is a brilliant open source image manipulation program http://www.gimp.org/ - I can't afford photoshop! The crude nature of the mock-up is not the software's fault, it is mine entirely as I don't necessarily know what I'm doing . It takes a bit getting used to - using layers is the trick though. If you do different layers with the different colours, then you can save it as a gif with each layer being a 'frame' in the animation 'movie' and you can specify how long they should display for and whether they should loop forever or only loop through the layers once. I'm sure other image programs could do the same if it supported layers. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1267Sep 19, 2015 4:22 am Sorry ardie I haven't a clue re weed killers! Rache and treeseachanger are gardening experts so maybe one of them can help Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1268Sep 24, 2015 8:24 pm Oh dear. I would say roundup. It doesn't go through the soil only into the plant. Not sure of non toxic stuff for lawns! only vegies and the like. Maybe you can find out from Fu's lawn soil preparation thread in Landscaping and Gardening! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1269Sep 25, 2015 10:13 am Oh bother, I wasn't getting notifications and missed all the fun! I think I like the grey slats best as it recedes into the background and makes the house stand out more, whereas with the white the fence is more prominent. Love that colourful rug! Really brightens up the space, nice choice. Loove the master bedroom too ardie, looks very peaceful. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1270Oct 16, 2015 10:41 am Hi ardie - have you bought your sheers yet Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1271Oct 19, 2015 7:29 pm Hi Mal, been meaning to update for a week and have just gotten busy. After a few minor dramas re: reticulation and fencing our landscaping is finally done! That was the last major item to be completed so I can officially say we're done! Phew now we need to send in our 6 months maintenance list No sheers in dining room yet. Our loan just converted to principal and interest and now I'm really feeling broke. I should have more work hours starting first semester next year so am going to try and enjoy a light load now and work on being more frugal. Pics to follow Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1272Oct 20, 2015 5:41 am I'm so glad to hear you're officially done now - and I hope the 6 months maintenance list isn't too long! Really looking forward to seeing the pics - do you also have one of those gizmos on your gutters Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1273Oct 20, 2015 11:11 am ardie514 Hi Mal, been meaning to update for a week and have just gotten busy. We have our first house guest coming next month Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1275Oct 21, 2015 2:39 am Looks like you're really enjoying your new home ardie, it's looking great. I love the colors in your living room, fresh and fun. Bigger rug definitely looks better. How did you manage to get those reds to match?! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1276Oct 21, 2015 5:01 am Ardie I LOVE IT! The fence looks great - so much better than my mock up hehe - and it makes your front garden into a usable space - I hope we can do that one day too. Super jealous of your stacker doors and beautiful alfresco tiling - and what a difference a lawn and some garden beds makes? The bigger rug works a treat too - good call Thanks for posting the pic of your alfresco, it answers a q I had and been meaning to ask you about. We have a bit of a strange setup between the pillar top and ceiling so wanted to check how yours were. I've checked yours are like the Georgia's so hoping they'll fix it for us when I raise it. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1277Oct 21, 2015 11:52 am Wow it all looks so lovely!! The rug is fab, definitely a good choice on getting the bigger one. The gardens are all looking great too. I can't wait for the day when we don't have to wade through sand anymore. I have a feeling it's quite a long way off for us though! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1278Oct 22, 2015 12:41 pm Your colours are fresh and inviting, and so is the alfresco area, love that your view is over the park!! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1279Oct 22, 2015 2:44 pm That looks so good ardie!! Loving your fence and garden, and all your finishing touches. Colours are gorgeous and thumbs up for the bigger rug! So glad you are enjoying your beautiful home. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-The end has arrived! 1280Oct 25, 2015 12:37 am Thanks y'all. It is coming together. Have enjoyed doing a bit of gardening. It's funny we never envisioned the bright colours in our decor. Had planned on a more earthy palette, light greens etc but it all took on a life of its own and I think it works for now.
