Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1062Apr 21, 2015 11:55 am Yay Ardie. That's great news. So happy for you that you're that one step closer to keys. Bit odd your ss isn't going around with you but I guess your inspector will pick up on everything anyway Love that hall table as well. I've been looking for the past two months and am obviously looking in the wrong place as I can't find a table anywhere You'll feel so much better once you're in the house. Even just having the keys from redink felt good knowing everything was now under my control. Don't know if that just proves I'm a control freak haha Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1063Apr 21, 2015 7:26 pm trixee Ooh, nice legs! On the table, that is, though I'm sure yours are just fine too. Congratulations on finally getting PCI booked in! I hope it goes smoothly. Thanks trixee, I work out I've got everything crossed for a smooth inspection. I don't really anticipate anything major, though I guess one never does do they?! They've been fixing stuff along the way that we've had concerns about and they did their own inspection last week so hopefully just a few minor bits and pieces. MalSannie eed to! Just wanting to know you're ok. Thank you Melsie68 Ardie congrats. It's been along ride . If I can remember right you were one of my early posters on my blog and your nearly there . Is a weird feeling . You get so tried that you can't be bothered anymore . I'm a bit like that now waiting for redink to get some trades in here . It's not my job to chase them up . Try to enjoy the rest of your build . Ha ha Melsie, I guess I have been hanging around here for a while now I am optimistic going forward. justy Yay this is fantastic!!!! I am SO excited for you Ardie and I hope that once you're in your beautiful new home all the waiting will be worth it! My folks had a private inspector too and he definitely forwarded on their list...can't remember if their SS was there. I love that table! So nice Thanks justy. I am pretty darn excited. Needed a day to recover from the drama of trying to lock in an inspection day, but am now feeling revitalized and excited. I feel pretty good about the inspector, he's a good guy, did our previous 3 at slab, plate height and roof and has been very thorough. Our SS told us way back at the tile meeting (the only time we've ever really dealt directly with him) that our private inspection would constitute PCI. Normally he'd be there to open up and at least say hello to us and inspector, but since we pushed for an early inspection date than what they originally wanted and it's a Tuesday which is the SS' office day, he won't be there. You're not far behind justy, be here before you know it! archetto It's just a cop out on the builders behalf by not attending the inspection because you have an inspector, I don't really think it's good enough but what can you do. Good luck! How exiting keys soon Thank you. Yes, we are really at their mercy aren't we?! I'm cautiously optimistic that all will go well Treeseachanger Yay Ardie, you're "on the home stretch", literally!! It's funny when I look back it all seems like a blur...even the hiccups. Because it's just all swallowed up in the enjoyment of actually being in your lovely new home ! Hope that will be the same for you!! x Thanks trees. Yes, I'm feeling better about it all today and I do think it will all be a dull memory some day. Right now I've got a ton of trades to organize and I just want to get settled in. MIMN Hi ardie. Almost there! How exciting! I bet you are counting down the sleeps till you are in your beautiful home now! LOVE that table! How much did the private inspector cost you and do you recommend using one? Is the red ink supervisor alone enough? nikkis2000 Congratulations Ardie - You're so close now!! Interesting that the SS doesn'y turn up as well. You'd like to think they would at least go out after to actually look at the faults too so they know exactly what the issues are. ToriMatt8132 Yay Ardie. Don't know if that just proves I'm a control freak haha I'm sure I don't know what you're talking about in the control freak dept Yes, I can't wait to be in control of the place. I felt grumpy yesterday about the whole thing. Had to really fight for an inspection date and they made us feel like they're doing us some big favor by pushing it up 2 days to accommodate our schedule and the inspector's. Put me in a bit of a foul mood, as you all may have noticed But I woke up feeling much more excited about it all. I am assuming keys approx 2 weeks after the inspection. My birthday is the 14th so I guess my present this year will be some nice shiny keys and a big bottle of something delicious and sparkling My first day on the job of being my own building contractor and I had quite a productive day, got a painter penciled in for the week we expect keys, tiles to be delivered at the end of that week, tiler scheduled to start the next week and then the bamboo the following week. Still working out some paving details but hoping to get them started just before handover. I anticipate we'll actually be moving in at the end of May. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1064Apr 21, 2015 7:31 pm Wow, congrats and hope it all goes smoothly! It does seem like a bit of a cop-out the SS not coming out, but honestly if you can only have one there I know I'd rather the third party than the builders rep! Not much longer until you can start actually enjoying the place and making it feel like your home! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1065Apr 22, 2015 4:50 am Hey ards so glad to hear you're feeling a bit more excited - I for one can't wait to see your pics Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1066Apr 24, 2015 3:43 pm PCI in 4 days! Any advice or suggestions from all you experts out there? Enjoy the long weekend. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1067Apr 24, 2015 4:08 pm On Tuesday? At long last I'll keep absolutely everything crossed there aren't any problems.
