Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1004Mar 23, 2015 3:10 pm Ardie, I'm so sorry to hear about your taps, that's awful! Hopefully you find some replacements and the build keeps moving at a steady pace! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1005Mar 23, 2015 6:47 pm Yep it's a bummer indeed, but sh*t happens I guess. Now we have insurance on the house. Lesson learned. On that note, I bought a new tap over the weekend. Original one I had purchased has been discontinued. Anyway, emailed redink today to ask what they'd like me to do with the new one. Their reply, just leave it in the bottom kitchen cupboard for when the plumber comes! Um no thanks. Isn't that how the first one got stolen?! I told them that they should find out when the plumber is coming and I'll bring it over that day and hand it to him. He's got lots to do that day and I have to drive to the area twice a day for school drop off and pick up anyway. I'm not buying another kitchen tap On a much much happier note our glass splashback went in today! I love the colour, white float. Definitely green enough. Might be my favourite thing so far!!! We used Granart Glass and they were awesome to work with, would definitely recommend them. How nice are the Granart people! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1007Mar 23, 2015 7:29 pm Love it too! My favorite colour!! But I bet you can't wait to rip off that green plastic and see the full effect of the benchtop though!! Yes, very sensible to hand the tap over to the plumber when he's there. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1008Mar 23, 2015 8:51 pm The splashback looks great, so fresh looking. Good call on the tap. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1009Mar 24, 2015 9:54 am Kitchen is looking fab Ardie! Did you look at other splashback co's? How did Granart compare to them if you did? Definitely a good move on the tap as well. Looking forward to seeing the finished article! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1011Mar 25, 2015 6:54 pm Thanks so much. I'm really happy with how the glass turned out. I wouldn't say speeding along melsie, more like crawling, but at least moving. Feeling quite over it all at the moment. We signed up with Redink 18 months ago!!! Supposedly the AC install started yesterday and shower screens and mirrors are done. There's hardly anything left to do but they're still saying pre handover at end of april. That means keys 8 months after slab. 11 months from deposit and sign up to slab. That’s 18 months for a standard single story house in a new estate. I could have given birth twice in that amount of time! I really don't understand why it's taking so long. I've written and then deleted a bunch of nasty emails over the past few days. Doubtful anything good will come of it, but i needed to vent to someone other than my husband lucky you guys and gals rant over. I totally know these are first world problems and I'm fortunate to have a great new house. I'm just exhausted and have had my mother in law living with us for 5 months now waiting for us to move! Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1012Mar 25, 2015 6:59 pm Or you can be a elephant and give birth once lol . Sometimes I write emails then delete them too . Lol . I know its stressful but hang in there . We love venting on here lol Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1013Mar 25, 2015 7:09 pm Oh my god if i had to be pregnant for 18 months I'd really be grumpy I'm just sad that I'm not that excited anymore. I just want it to be over. I know once we're in it will all be great. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1014Mar 25, 2015 10:08 pm I dont think anything I say will make you excited again .I think that building is so stressful and it really takes a toll on you . Its harder when you have kids as well as everyday problems , work . When mixing it with building a house it can be like a bomb exploding . Im still waiting for redink .there are times I get really so over it and think ill wait 2 years if I have to for them to come back lol .for me its not worth stressing because my axiety kicks in and my life goes upside down . Then theres your partner that works all day and comes through the door and all you talk about is the house .mine just goes in the theatre lol . Say no more .you have your mother in law there .I wonder why you a full of emotions .I find you have to on your best behaviour .its exhausting being nice all the time .lol Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1015Mar 25, 2015 10:13 pm You crack me up melsie and that makes me feel better yeah it's just been an emotional couple of weeks and the house is just adding fuel to the fire. You (and my hubby) are right , I need to not stress about it. Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1016Mar 25, 2015 10:27 pm Dont get me wrong I stressed .and there was my hubby saying dont stress it has to get finished . I stress more now but I am learning to go with the flow because it will consume my life .I was reading somewhere that life is going so quick .our chn are growing up so quick and what are most of as doing thinking about our houses . Its hard not to because we spend so much money on them. Im trying baby steps for me . Trust me ardie its easier to fix things while building even if it takes longer . Then be in a home still waiting . Remember just keep smiling and agree with mother in law . She is always right he he Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1017Mar 26, 2015 11:38 am ardie514 Thanks so much. I'm really happy with how the glass turned out. I love the glass Ardie! It looks fantastic. I know how you feel. I know we're very lucky to be living with my parents but it's getting to a point where I desperately need my own space...everyone is starting to get on each others nerves Yes, it's a first world problem but we're putting a lot of our hard earned money into something that we've been dreaming about. I don't think I'm going to be fully excited until the painting and flooring is done and we can finally move in! The time should fly from now to lock up and hopefully they're doing a really good job rather than rushing things. Rant away on here and perhaps join a boxing class Our build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68804 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/jadeshereejust/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/jadeshereejust/ Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1018Mar 26, 2015 12:00 pm Ha ha, funny you should mention that justy. I've been working with a pt and whenever she asks what do i want to do today, i tell her boxing, lots of boxing! And they just started a new boxing class at the gym. Might need even more boxing:) Re: Redink SOR First time builders-Almost done, I think 1019Mar 27, 2015 10:02 am Well a few more things happened at the house this week, but still no end in sight. Mirrors and shower screens went in, though the ensuite shower door is super wobbly and an accident waiting to happen. Hopefully it gets fixed. They started on the aircon system and the painters have been finishing up. Still haven't done the front door yet. Presumably it'll be the last thing they paint.
