Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 04, 2013 1:40 pm I am currently building a two storey town house in Melb and have to decide on the ceiling exhaust . While I do propose to install a hydronic heating panel - I was wondering what are the reliable, money for value exhaust fans that some one could recommend . My research suggests that the Martec Profile+ , Cosmo Quattro Mercator BH 014, Clipsall Airflow Sunshine and IXL Neo Tastic - are the premium models with IXL in the pricey range. Should I also install a separate exhaust over the shower and reasonable 3-in1 ceiling fan . Should I insist in the duct to be located to an outside wall ( which is brick)? Appreciate any thoughts, recommendations or suggestions. Re: Exhaust 3in 1 ceiling fan 2Oct 04, 2013 3:34 pm You should definitely insist the ceiling fan be ducted outside, getting a bathroom ducted into a roof cavity is asking for problems with the moisture you're venting. You should only need one exhaust fan in the room (maybe I'm not quite understanding what you're asking with "Should I also install a separate exhaust over the shower and reasonable 3-in1 ceiling fan"). We are renting a 50's house (while ours is built) and it has a shower near-ish to the window and a generic exhaust-fan in the middle of the room, we've lived there for a week now & I can hang clothes off the door-handle & sitting on the edge of the bath without them being "un-ironed" by steam ... so a setup with the fan in the middle of the room works just fine. Sorry, don't know anything about models or brands of 3-in-one. However, you can't get your hydronic heating routed in the screed for the bathroom, and completely avoid the overhead heating elements? Those things consume juice like few other still-legal elecrtonic things you can buy, we've been running electric under-floor heating for 4-5 months of the year fr the last 7 years and it's cost us less electricity than an IXL-tastic being used for only half an hour per day for the same time (and the bathroom's more comfortable than an overhead heater makes it, too). Re: Exhaust 3in 1 ceiling fan 3Oct 04, 2013 7:24 pm I installed whirlybirds over the exhaust fans to help vent the steam outside, hopefully it will also help cool the roof space in summer. Personally I'm not a big fan of the IXL tastics. We just small fan heater in winter when required (not me).
