Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 03, 2013 7:19 pm Hello, We are in the early stages of paperwork etc. in building with Coral Homes in Ballina, Northern NSW. We are looking at what we will have Coral Homes do compared to ourselves outsourcing other suppliers so we can save money. Hoping to see what others have done to save some $$$. We are looking at outsourcing: - Flooring (carpet/tiles) - Driveway - Letterbox - Window finishing OR do you feel that Coral Homes is competitively priced an not worth looking to outsource as such? Also if you are building in a new estate on land with no fencing, are you up for the entire cost of fencing? I hope you can answer my questions or any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks Jess + Tye Re: What have you DIY to save money when building with Coral 2Oct 04, 2013 8:24 am with fencing if the developer has not sold the land surrounding you , you will be up for the price of fencing if there are landowners they will go half with you with the driveway etc get quotes and see how they compare with coral i always like to get three quotes to compare Re: What have you DIY to save money when building with Coral 3Oct 09, 2013 2:38 pm I think light fittings can be owner supplied whereby you can save quite a bit of money and things like timber decking for alfresco too. If you are wanting feature walls etc, do them yourself later. I have just had my colour appointment with coral - just waiting to come back from council now. Have you signed the contract yet? At this stage I think I'll get coral to do the ducted air con and I was thinking about removing the driveway, letter box, clothes line and turf from the contract. Worst part is that my contract isn't itemized! I've just had a look at the website. The company are just building broker's.
