Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Beginning the build of our new home 10Oct 02, 2013 12:46 pm oli2013 I know it sound crazy but we changed the plan more than 3 times to get to what it is now. I think we also made the sales rep crazy lol. ! Only 3 times! gee my builder would love only 3 changes! hahaha. You have to get something your comofortable with and now is the time to do it before they start. We spent 18 months planning, 6 months building. We had friends who spent 3 months planning and 15 months building, then an additional 6 months fixing. Actually they are still wrangling over unfinished/repairs etc... I wrote down a rough guide somewhere before goes something like this: Builder says tomorrow = next week at easliest Builder says next week = next month at earliest Builder says next month = sometime within the next 12 months! haha If you have that as your conversion chart you won't be disappointed. Reading these threads is fantastic, make sure you check out the sticky "things you forgot" or whatever it is at the top of the threads. That gave me some gold ideas. You'll find we all have things that don't go well or as planned. So don't ever feel like you're the only one - we share the pain together! :):) Welcome and Enjoy! Re: Beginning the build of our new home 11Oct 02, 2013 1:07 pm MyH1Login Did you add the Move-In Pack? Right now I'm fixated on our facade choice, and window/door heights I agree that color selection will be the bane of my existence when we get to it I'm sure! Yes we have the move in package. What facade did you choose? We have the Dorset facade. Thank you for the conversion chart! It would come in handy lol. They say building is stressful but we wanted to save on stamp duty haha! Yeah its good to know I'm not alone and will try to read through threads to learn more on building. Thanks! There's none like it in their Lifestyle range unfortunately. I've posted the two facades I'm trying to decide on, either York or Rothwell, check my thread: http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=67405 --- Re: Beginning the build of our new home 15Oct 02, 2013 5:37 pm Here is the floor plan... i'm not sure if its going to work. http://www.flickr.com/photos/30555325@N02/10050006305/ Re: Beginning the build of our new home 16Oct 02, 2013 5:50 pm It worked Oli You've made the plan your own and it looks really good! You can't really tell it spawned from the Garnet, and that's such a good thing because it's so personalised. And to think, you got it for the price that you did, but for a totally different house!! I was thinking about it last night, it was a VERY smart move what you did.. I should have had the same tactic Lastly, the alfresco is a much better size than it was before. looks great Oli, can't wait to see pictures of colors and of course the actual build! I'm specially interested in colors since I haven't gone through that stage yet. --- Re: Beginning the build of our new home 17Oct 02, 2013 5:53 pm MyH1Login Are you still getting a TV antenna or did you ask that to be credited back (since there is cable?) I questioned the telephone point in the move in package though as we were charged the opticomm connection with telephone point already included. Oh well if we can claim the antenna and give it to the parents Yeah I was reading on your thread, I think the York is nicer, the lines are impressive and the house looks big with the massive windows. Re: Beginning the build of our new home 18Oct 02, 2013 6:00 pm Antenna isn't much anyway it wouldn't break the bank Thanks for your input on the facade! Yeah still loving the York out of all other choices.. We'll see what the final decision is. So, what's next steps now, you're just waiting for the Council approval? I haven't heard back about the tender appointment yet, but I'll perhaps follow up next week - I'd prefer if it was end of October as I have an exam to study for --- Re: Beginning the build of our new home 19Oct 02, 2013 6:04 pm MyH1Login It worked Oli You've made the plan your own and it looks really good! I'm specially interested in colors since I haven't gone through that stage yet. Yay it worked! I should be posting more photos When they told us we can customise we went crazy and flipped everything around within the Garnet outer shell haha. With the colours selection the first thing was the tile selection and then we worked around picking colours from there. We went for the basic colours as the pallette of colour will mainly come from the furnitures and accessories. You can ask them to book you in for the tender end of Oct if that's more convenient for you.
