Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 82Feb 10, 2014 8:42 pm Back Pocket It's all looking so good! Ha Ha Ha we have one of those rooms of stuff too. We really are causing ourselves more work, I think we've just about doubled the amount of stuff we need to move to the new place in the span of 8 weeks! Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 83Feb 12, 2014 8:42 pm Hi all, Bit of an update, all of the walls have been completely bricked, in a total of 4 days... Just under the windows/doors to finish off (and the alfresco posts which they haven't touched but taken all the scaffolds down... wonder if they have forgotten....?) Tomorrow they will finish that, and then Friday clean up the bricks and then it will be all done! Very quick. The Electrician's started yesterday and have apparently finished Today.... however, they have made a mistake and our very specific laundry powerpoint configuration has not been done... fairly sure the admin team didn't bother sending our amendments on to the SS or something - but who knows, we have sent our SS a text and asked him to call us tomorrow... The insulation has started going in aswell - apparently the plasters are starting on Friday so they would want to get our wiring issue sorted! Speaking of our SS, bad news.... He has resigned and his last day is the 28th. Considering he has been the best part of the build, we are extremely disappointed - but best of luck to him! Hopefully our build will not go down the toilet. Here are some photos! That's pretty darn fast!! Our brickies have been working for 2 weeks and it still isn't finished, however I spoke to him yesterday and he said he takes his time as he prides himself in the work that he does, but everything will be finished by tomorrow including the pillars. Your brickies won't have forgotten it, they will probably come back and do it It's looking really good! Once that plaster goes up you get a I feel of how big the rooms are, when the frames was up I didn't think our theater room was going to be thst big at all, and then when I looked at it last night with all the plaster, cornices and skirting boards done oh yea and the double doors it looks massive!!! Will its not the biggest room out there, but considering I always grew up in a small house this is massive to me So end of April and you should be in? Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 85Feb 13, 2014 8:26 am Yeah, looking forward to seeing the plaster on now and getting an idea of the natural light and actual size of the rooms! Probably this time next week the sheets will all be up I guess and they will be filling them etc.... Our theatre room is a little bit annoying, as we have found out it's very hard to find a 4 seater theatre couch in the configuration we want at the correct size (The room is 3570mm wide and the couch we want is about 3700mm ARGGG). I guess we will have to get something different! Our estimated date is the 21st/22nd of May... according to our contract. So, no idea at this stage whether they will get it done quicker, or drag it out and use all the time they have... Earlier would be a lot better considering 1) we get into our new house quicker! and 2) it will most likely not be as wet if we move in April (because we aren't allowed to have our driveway done until handover, so it will be fun moving in through mud). Haven't spoken to/met our new SS so I have no idea what his plans are in regards to handing it over. He has probably had to pick up extra slack due to our current SS resigning so it may mean everything slows down and gets a little more disorganised. Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 86Feb 13, 2014 8:39 am the plaster goes up extremely quick! They did all of ours in 1 day! obviously that isnt including things like the architraves and so on. But the main bulk of it is what gives you the idea Oh wow, how annoying! We already bought ours and I think it might be a tight squeeze! uh oh! hahaha! We will just move it to the open plan living and then get another one! Problem solved Yep I want to be in before the easter weekend! As I kind of want to take some extra days off and utilise 2 public holidays That way I can do the front and back landscaping, so the dog wont be playing and walking in mud all day long! We also have a new SS who was meant to give me a call by now, but still waiting!! BUt ever since he took over, so much work has been done! Brickies will be finished by saturday and then we have our painters next week. After that its all internal work apart from doing our facade! Our previous SS said 7 weeks max from lock up.. at the moment this take us to around the end of march to the first week of april, he also said at the absolute latest end of April!! Its all starting to get SOOO exciting and we have so much more to do! We still need to buy pendant lights, lights for the pillars out the front then flood lights and so on!! Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 87Feb 13, 2014 10:08 am 7 weeks from lock up eh? Wow. If that's the case for ours.... (which should be lock up by the end of the week) That puts us first week of April. Hahah, no way - I don't think that will happen - but we will have to wait and see! I guess PD will obviously be different. Yes we need to work out what we are doing with our landscaping.... Think we are going to have to section off parts of our backyard whilst we grow lawn... I really don't want to risk wasting thousands on turf in the backyard when the dogs would probably wreck it in one day - what are you planning on doing for your landscaping? We need to order our pendants, just waiting for my pay to come through and will do it! Lol Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 88Feb 13, 2014 10:45 am Yea well thats what our old SS said, however we have a new one now, who is yet to call me to introduce himself. So still waiting for this to happen then I Can ask him and see what he says. Our previous SS had taken on too many jobs and that caused a few delays on ours, So I am hoping that having this new guy things will happen a little bit more fluently. Landscaping will be fairly simple for us, We are just going to buy rolled turf to put down in the back yard, give it a 2-3 weeks to take before bringing the dog in. Then the front of the house will be quite basic until we can afford to do something a little bit more fancy, as we eventually want to do timber steps up to the front door with led lights lining it would add a little bit more class to the house What are you guys planning? Are you doing it by your self? Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 89Feb 13, 2014 12:00 pm That sounds good. Because our house is sitting up on the block a bit, we are planning on putting a bit of a retaining wall out the front and making that a feature - though we will need to see exactly what we have to work with when it's all been backfilled etc. We also want to deck over our portico, and I will build a deck out the back over the alfresco concrete and extending a metre to the side of the house, should make a great area. To stop the dogs digging out under the fence, I'll put garden beds all around with sleepers - we really would love to put the turf down but really not sure if the dogs would kill it or not. Will have to see..... Out the front I think we will just grow, our neighbours have all decided on a certain type of grass seed to make the street all look great so we will just use that - and being out the front the dogs can't wreck it! Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 90Feb 13, 2014 1:19 pm Yep our house is sitting up a bit as well and we have also discussed doing a retainer wall to make the front more even, as well as the steps to the porch with the decking We are also going to deck the alfresco area hmmm thats a good idea about the garden beds so the dog doesnt dig!!! well the sir walter buffalo is meant to be one of the best out there and extremely hardy! I just cant be bothered waiting for it to grow. Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS STARTED + FURNITURE! 91Feb 13, 2014 5:44 pm Bricks completely finished Today and alfresco pillars done Insulation all done and plaster has all been delivered ready to go on Tomorrow. Our SS is apparently on leave until Monday, so I guess they will be ripping the plaster off in the Laundry and fixing their mistake. Oh well, whatever. We aren't even going to bother contacting our BC (It took 3 weeks for a reply last time we did). I took pictures, but won't put them up.... You are all probably getting sick of seeing the bricks... can't wait until all the plaster sheets are up though! It's going to seem weird. Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS FINISHED, PLASTER! 92Feb 14, 2014 7:52 am Awesome! they will go up so quick as well! Before you know it they will all be completed!! I am just waiting for our paint! He is booked for "mid feb" and they have been working hard to get it all prepped and ready for the paint! Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS FINISHED, PLASTER! 93Feb 14, 2014 7:43 pm Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS FINISHED, PLASTER! 95Feb 14, 2014 9:55 pm They appear to just be bits of plaster over the joins keeping the sheets level, perhaps whilst the adhesive hardens? Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - BRICKS FINISHED, PLASTER! 96Feb 17, 2014 7:15 pm Well Today was awesome! All the plaster went up in the entire house and the roof had been all patched etc. Not really too much more to say, pictures are worth a thousand words. One small note, our SS got back to us about the Laundry electrical and apparently it's right - so all good! The plasterers will apparently be all finished by the 27th (Thursday week)!
