Just a tip take pictures of each wall and label them. Makes it easier to work out where the studs are when you want to hang something. Do it after the first fix wiring has been done so you know where the wires are too. If you know where you want pictures or TVs, you can add a noggin where you need them now to make it easier when you move in. There are just a couple of finishing touches tomorrow apparently and the entire frame will be complete. A total of 5 days work – In 40 degree heat the last 2 days as well! We are really happy with the quality and the speed of the build so far, our neighbours whom we have seen out on the street when we drive past have commented what a good job the framers have done, and how quickly they have done it – very pleased! We had our weekly update from our SS Today who told us the frame would be finish Tomorrow, and the Colourbond roof and Plumbing would be starting on Monday, the windows won’t be done until later next week because they could not get the order pushed forward (as the framers were only supposed to start Today!). So not this Friday but the one after, we should theoretically have our Colourbond roof done, windows done and plumbing done (or started, not sure how long this takes!). All going awesome, our contract handover date of May 21st seems pretty damn realistic if they keep this pace up. Hooray! We haven't been able to find any other resource on the internet that shows the build progress of the Dunes (or, the Dunhill as it was previously known). I hope you enjoy our photos etc. Yes, we struggled with brick and render colour choices, and because Porter Davis' Category 1 selections for bricks are so limited, we went with a brick which was definitely not our first choice.... we are very nervous to see what they look like once they arrive on site and start getting laid (maybe next week? ) Good luck! If you have any questions, or want to know prices for upgrades we were quoted etc, check out our blog or send us a message. In regards to our build..... Last week on Thursday or Friday they put in a bunch of drainage around the back and side of the house, so we now have several plastic pits in the backyard (don't think we'll be flooding!), On Monday they did all the plumbing for the water and gas, and put on the fascia and gutters, that was very exciting to see as it was the first bit of actual colour that we had picked to go onto the house (Fascia, Guttering and Roof are all Colourbond Jasper) and we couldn't see any mistakes. We went up yesterday as well (Tuesday) and the Colourbond roof had started to go on, and our external doors had arrived. All of the steel roof bits that they screw the colourbond into had been fixed onto the frame and a few sheets had started to go up - so with a little luck, I think the roof should be finished when we go up and have a look tonight! I promised not to post pictures until the roof was on, so hopefully tonight I can show you some more! Also too late to change Re: Porter Davis Dunes 29 - ROOF FINISHED! 59Jan 26, 2014 12:04 pm lol we were thinking homestead buff, and like you weren't really fans of any of the choices in category 1! after working out the colours we would go with, we had a small gift of $ from the inlaws to open up our brick choices super wonderful! so now I'm back to having my head spin over bricks and render choices!!! but thats a good problem to have so I'm not complaining! However I live in melbourne these days and I am currently building down here. I kind of wanted to come back to ballarat as land is MUCH cheaper. But its easier for me down here at the moment.
