Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 23, 2013 10:41 am Hi, Anyone out there that has built the Memphis with JG King? We're currently pricing this plan to build in Midlura VIC and was hoping others out there could share their thoughts on the plan after having moved in. Is there anything you would change etc... Particularly, we're wondering if a door is needed on the ensuite, for times when someone's having a shower while someone else is in the bed. Cheers Re: Anyone built Memphis by JG King or built in Mildura with 2Sep 27, 2013 10:44 am Hi. Your post was looking a little lonely, and not that I can offer much I thought I would reply (my first post, although been an active onlooker for some time). I too am hoping for feedback from anyone who has recently built with JG king. We are looking at the Barossa 2 plan, and although it's a different plan we have allowed for a cavity sliding door between the Ensuite and robe in the master as I was worried about potential steam having an impact on my clothes. The memphis looks like a fantastic plan, good luck! Re: Anyone built Memphis by JG King or built in Mildura with 3Sep 27, 2013 1:34 pm haha. Thanks for replying. I'm also wondering if steam would be an issue for our plan. We really liked the Barossa 2 as well but couldn't find a block wide enough. We even had trouble finding a block big enough to fit the Memphis. Re: Anyone built Memphis by JG King or built in Mildura with 4Nov 21, 2013 4:00 pm Hey vc213, Only saw this thread now but have replied to your post on my Blog. In case others, like Steenooo are doing research on JG King, yes I am having a good experience with them at the moment. (Also building the Memphis like vc213). There was a post on my blog from a Marc who has recently moved in, in November. About 4 and a half months from starting date. It seems as though everything went really well for him too. We changed our plan around a little bit to suit our needs, like adding a double sliding door to the rear (wasn't in the plans from JG King when we originally say the house), as well as a few other things. One thing I would get you to check is adding an Additional 2-way light switch where the entrance to the 3 other bedrooms are. You will find that they will need to walk through the dining room and kitchen before getting to the light switch if you don't add the 2-way. Also, double check where you want the rear water tap... and also check where you want the Hot Water System. Hope this helps. Here's hoping things keep going well for my build! And for the two of you! Cheers for the tips. I hadn't thought of the 2 way light switch where you've suggested. We've asked them to relocate the HWS to the other side of the house as we've put the alfresco off the dining room door. We also added sliding doors to the ensuite and walk in robe. As you said in your blog, tile appointment is next for us. I'm getting so excited and loving seeing your progress pics Re: Anyone built Memphis by JG King or built in Mildura with 6Jan 16, 2014 10:11 am Hey vc213, Just wondering how your build is progressing? Are you still moving ahead with the Memphis? They are all back from holiday now and are going gung hoe! I can't wait to go around there again tonight to see how much more has been done! Would love to hear where you're at and if it's all started, some photo's if possible? Cheers. They're looking at starting next month so fingers crossed. We're just waiting on the bank to the valuation now that we have contracts so Im hoping that goes ok. I'm a bit worried what they're going to say with all the upgrades we've done so just have to wait. I've been watching your blog and it's just flying along. You must be so excited now. You should post a few photo's as you go along as I'm interested in seeing your progress. Hope they have started! Got a call last week saying they've got the slab design and can now apply for the building permit so I'm still waiting. Though I was sure the slab design was part of the contract. Now they're saying end of February to start. Yours is looking great. Is that the 1200mm entrance door you've got? We did the 1200mm Hume x5 (I think that's what it was called) and I was wondering if it was the same. I love the pantry doors btw Re: Anyone built Memphis by JG King or built in Mildura with 10Feb 27, 2014 2:47 pm vc213 istephendj Hey vc213, Did they start on your block yet? I was sold on the cranbourne Display and insisted on the same door they had. It is the upgraded door so I guess it's the same. I'm sure you'd be edging to get started now if you haven't already. For us, we've now got handover in 3 weeks ish... depending on how smooth things go between now and then. I've taken 5 weeks off work so I'm REALLY looking forward to it all... a nice break and a new home too!! Keep us posted on your progress.
