Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 21, 2013 6:01 pm Hi all, I'm new to this forum and have been following other peoples build and thought I'd put something up. We're building in South East Melbourne with Henley. Fell in love with their displays in selendra rise which is also first time I heard of them! Cosham was great, went there every weekend and had a browse. Would definitely recommend going as much as possible! Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! We too are building with Henley and signed a contract back in January. We paid initial deposits in August 12 on the assumption our land was titling in October 12. Our land finally settled last week! Despite the long wait and the fact we signed the contract in January (we were told by developers the land was ready, but that was false), Henley have just continued to extend our contract without any additional cost. The base price of our house has increased $11,000 in this time (albeit with a couple of extra inclusions). Obviously I don't know how things will go in the future, but from our experience, there has been no concerns in extending the contract. Our experience has been mostly positive with Henley and more so in this last couple of weeks or so - as soon as our land titled, Henley have been really fast getting us to site start. We settled our block last Wednesday, 18/09 and Henley are planning for a 30/09 start, which we are thrilled with! Good luck with your build, and I hope your land titles on time! Re: Beckham Henley at the Boulevard in Clyde Nth 3Sep 23, 2013 12:57 pm Good luck with everything! We have a base price extension written in to our contract with Metricon to cover for delays in title. We were told October and we have the prices secured to Feb '13. We are really hoping there are no major delays and from what we can see all is going well to title by the end of the year which is what we'd hoped. I'm not sure the time frame they give you is ever really accurate though so definitely plan for delays! Congratz on your land finally being titled and settled. That was a very long wait, you must be relieved when it finally titled! Has Henley been able to get started on site yet? Which design are you building with them? Deciding on colors at the moment is a headache! We've changed our minds so many times and we haven't even been to our color appointment yet! Hope this weather gets better soon so works can continue for everyone! Re: Beckham Henley at the Boulevard in Clyde Nth 5Oct 04, 2013 9:18 pm Thanks, and yes it's been a very long, frustrating wait. We are building the Lexington and our site was scraped this week...it's hard to believe it's finally happening! How are you going with your colours? It was my favourite part of the process, now I can't wait to see them all together. It's tough making all those decisions at once though! Re: Beckham Henley at the Boulevard in Clyde Nth 6Oct 12, 2013 2:08 pm Hi again, Had colour appointment yesterday and it actually went quite good! Took us 3hrs to decide on everything and lol the only thing hubbys not completely sure about is the flooring. He really wants the bamboo floorboards but its really over our budget! We went with the concept board 1 with the darker colors for external and lighter / warmer colors inside. Our paint colors is lexicon quarter throughout with creme brulee for all the benchtops through. Licorice linea for all cupboard downstairs with oyster linea for upstairs. We're doing travertine classico for all floors and wall floors - I believe this will be the costly upgrade for us plus the front entry door. Anyways patiently waiting for tenders and have a feeling we will be deleting quite a few things hehe... !! Have u got slab on yet? Do u have a blog to follow? We chose creme brûlée for bench tops in kitchen too, I like the speckles in it. Our slab is pencilled in for Wednesday. It was supposed to be yesterday, but the ground was holding too much water apparently, so they gave it a few days to dry out. We went to visit the land today and the plumbing has been done today, so we are moving forward! I haven't got around to doing a blog but am considering it..I think I will start a thread on here now I have something else to finally write about! Have you looked externally for the bamboo flooring to do it yourself? Re: Beckham Henley at the Boulevard in Clyde Nth 8Oct 12, 2013 9:05 pm lila rose Good luck with everything! I haven't really asked Henley regarding what happens if our land doesnt title on time. Was contemplating asking at tender time or should I ask my admin now? Probably won't hurt I guess. Good luck, which metricon are u building? We also considered them but a bit over our budget! Re: Beckham Henley 9Dec 12, 2013 7:33 am Anyways, tender & contract signed, valuation from the bank came back spot on so pretty happy, finance approval given to henley, developers paid the community/infrastructure levy, got the final drawings and actually pretty happy with it so will probably sign off on it tonight or so and being advised settlement is due on Christmas day... wth?!! I'm still hoping it's next Friday as orginally advised but my conveyancer is taking his time giving my bank the details regarding the titles grr...
Re: Beckham by Henley - land settled and building permit app 11Jan 11, 2014 6:58 pm Just droved out to the land today. ... guess what we saw? Water taps installed yah... does that mean we should expect some action not to far away? Noticed it was the only one with taps in the whole stage. Progress! By the time we got our welcome letter our frame was up!! haha! it said we are glad to advise that we started on site as of dec 6th... I received this just before christmas! So it kind of pays to go up there at least once a week. You will also receive a new admin for the building process.. So far its been okay Re: Beckham by Henley - land settled and building permit app 16Jan 14, 2014 6:19 pm Oh hm maybe need to pop by every fee days now just in case! It used to be once a month thing to every 2 weeks but I heard fron other people that they have had rubbish dumped on their land so also want to make sure it aint happening on ours. Boulevard has heaps of people living there already so shouldn't have too much of a problem Re: Beckham by Henley - land settled and building permit app 18Jan 19, 2014 5:16 pm stayxtrue Yea we had rubbish dumped on ours, also had alcohol cans and bottles were just everywhere!! Boulevard has heaps of people living there already so shouldn't have too much of a problem Low life grrr... how they mange to keep ur timber stacker door save this time... such a shame... wonder if it could be one of the tradies doing it?! They will replace but its the time lost that would be annoying. Went down to land today. . No change but we were checking out the horses nearby and my son went nuts seeing it. Loved it!! Got our final drawings but the light underneath the staircase does not show the light as the guy at tender had assured us. I emailed my ca but the other day but no response. Do u reckon I should leave it or be more persistent about it... ? Re: Beckham by Henley - land settled and building permit app 19Jan 19, 2014 8:56 pm Yea being fairly empty up there it's easy to steal stuff. I honestly think it was some Tradies either from my build or another build who have stolen the door. I would email then and be persistent and make sure it is as you wanted! They may be able to confirm that it is fine! I noticed one annoying thing the other day and that was the positioning of one of our tv ports that I managed to over look, but that's cheap enough to get change later anyway Re: Beckham by Henley - land settled and building permit app 20Jan 22, 2014 8:39 am Anyone interested this is our color selection: Interior Exterior - went with concept board 1!!!
