There are a few things that need fixing/replacing - there was a screw in the sliding door cavity that made a horrible gouge on the scullery door when it was closed and the stove is also scratched and needs replacing, a chip and ding to a couple of the corners of walls - one was hard enough to dent the metal strip on the corner. And some things still aren't finished - like the plumbing. We're missing a kitchen tap and the shower in the ensuite. The list wasn't too long but they have been slow to get a move on with them. My DH tried the tap for the fridge and then couldn't get it to turn all the way off! I've sent all the paper work off to the bank and a valuation agent rang me today to see if he could get access to the house tomorrow. I suggested it would be better if he rang and arranged it through Switch because I don't have the keys and he said I've just rung them and they said they've already handed the house over.... mmm that would be a no. I'm a bit worried that they wont be able to finish everything by next Friday and we've got very tight time frames for the flooring. We've asked the tiler to start on the Friday we get keys and the bamboo the following Wednesday. Its either all going to work out perfectly or fall into a big pile! But for now, roll on keys for 7.30am Friday 6th Feb! Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Keys Friday 6th Feb! 183Jan 29, 2015 9:41 am Fingers crossed for you for keys MLB <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Keys Friday 6th Feb! 184Feb 02, 2015 11:20 pm AKB Fingers crossed for you for keys MLB Its going to take more than crossed fingers to get those keys on Friday now! Since PCI absolutely nothing from the list has been done! Oh but the fly screens were put on. The balustrade that was supposed to go on Friday still isn't done. I really don't understand why they would commit to keys within 10 days and then do nothing Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Keys Friday 6th Feb! 186Feb 04, 2015 10:03 pm We've had a flurry of activity the past couple of days but its not going to be enough I think. DH was able to get in today because the carpenter was still there. A few things have been done and some extra dents added that will need to be fixed. On a good note the balcony balustrade is finally in and the handrail for the stairs. On the down side they have installed the wrong shower in the ensuite We were supposed to get the Caroma trak shower system, which is the shower head and separate hand held shower, nothing else. What we got was the caroma trak RAIL shower system , which has everything on a vertical rail. That comes with extra holes in the wall that will need tiles being replaced when they put the right one on. The stupid thing is the pipe work was all set up for the correct one so even now we have an extra water outlet that would need removing and new tiles even if we stuck with what they gave us! I'd post pictures to make life easier but we are sitting through our 3rd power cut in as many days Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Keys Friday 6th Feb! 188Feb 04, 2015 10:57 pm AKB Oh MLB I know For once at least I was prepared for the worst but its so annoying. I think we're going to have to push back all the flooring and the next free date for the upstairs was the 23rd - if its still available That's going to delay us moving until March now. I was hoping to avoid another payment on the storage units Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 190Feb 12, 2015 9:39 pm Well we took the guys last Friday. We probably shouldn't have with the list of things that need finishing but we couldn't bare to delay all the trades or wait any longer. Months ago my DH was adamant that we wouldn't take the keys till it was all done so I'm surprised how easily we caved! And after doing PCI I'm amazed at all the things we still keep finding wrong - like the mirror missing from the powder room, top of the cistern missing from the ensuite toilet and one of the ovens not working because its tripping the power! The tiler started last Friday and they have done a fantastic job. We ended up being one box short of tiles for the balcony and they ran out of time to get the grouting done downstairs before the bamboo had to start so they are coming back next Tuesday to finish off. I've only seen the photos so far but the bamboo floor looks to be coming along very nicely too and they've said they'll be done by Monday. After that is skirting and then the painter will be back to finish off and patch the many dings and dents we have. I'm feeling very excited again as we intend to move in in two weeks time, after almost 2 years living at my parents place! Hopefully the builder gets all his job done before then !! Shiny, shiny floors! Needs grouting so hasn't been cleaned yet. Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 195Feb 13, 2015 1:00 pm Love the bamboo, what colour is that and where did you get it? Our build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70984 Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 196Feb 14, 2015 2:04 am Thanks Akb, bradster181, dukecaddy and archetto I got to see it tonight and its looking fantastic. archetto Love the bamboo, what colour is that and where did you get it? We got the flooring through Simply Bamboo in Malaga and they have been great. Ours is the caramel colour So our time line left for the next 2 weeks is: Monday finish bamboo Tuesday grout downstairs and balcony tiles Wednesday, Thursday skirting Friday outside brickwall/planters/seating gets started Monday finish painting Friday move in! We still need to pick carpet for the cinema, organise aggregate and wardrobe fit outs. The blinds are measured up and should be ready about the week after we're in. We're having shutters on all the front windows and they will take 10 weeks so we will be having stylish cardboard for a while on our bedroom I think. Switch has been plugging away at stuff but to be far its been a bit tricky with the floors getting done. Apparently the plasterer turned up and then left again because they would have all been on top of each other. I did tell the SS our timeline. Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 197Mar 11, 2015 11:46 pm Looks amazing. I have loved following- would love to see updated pics Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 198Mar 13, 2015 12:27 am Presidente Looks amazing. I have loved following- would love to see updated pics Thanks Presidents We've been in for two weeks now and it has been all go since handover! We're in a bit of an internet black spot and our last resort has been Telstra. They rang on the 9th and said we were good to go, nope, then on the 10th, nope and on the 11th they said it would be the 13th! So no pictures yet. Our garden brick wall is done and rendered so we need to paint that now and the biggy this week was getting the exposed aggregate done - all 180sqm of it! It looks amazing and really helps to make everything feel that much closer to being finished but we still need fences. The blinds were installed this week too and I'm very happy wth those. I decided to put just a sheer curtain on the stacker doors and we're still waiting on that. I'm really happy with the way the kitchen / scullery functions but I seem to be spending too much time in there while we wait for the dishwasher we've still got a lot of boxes around the place and will have until we get the wardrobes done and some bookshelves upstairs. I'm dragging my feet choosing someone though. I feel a bit over getting quotes for everything. Best of all though, it is soooo good just being the four of us again! Re: Switch Homes 270 Bayswater - Our turn at Project Managem 199Mar 13, 2015 1:58 am Congrats MLB can't imagine how good it must feel just being the 4 of you again.....no pressure but don't forget to feed the pig pics <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Thank you so much everyone.
