Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Title insurance??? 2Sep 16, 2013 7:00 pm I've never used it but understand it covers things like work that has not got council approval or ** etc. If its an existing house and the policy covers a good range of items it's probably worthwhile. If its a new block I "think" that your sol/conveyancer would probably be enough. http://camdenbuild.blogspot.com.au/ by invite only please pm me Re: Title insurance??? 3Sep 16, 2013 7:24 pm Hey impish73! I asked the same question and found that it is definitely worthwhile for established houses though I honestly couldn't find any benefits for building on land like we are. Any concern I had was covered in the land contract. As long as your lot measurements match your paperwork you should be right. From memory when I looked into it I think it was $300+ for it. One of the most common building defects is building work without building permit and could give you a headache if the council sends you building notice asking you to give a good reason why it should not be demolished. If that happens it will cost you thousands in inspections, reports and approvals to legalise it even if the construction is sound. One of my client's bought a home with two pergolas and it cost him $ 8000 From recollection it's around $ 500 once only fee for title insurance but do your own homework Foremost Building Expert in Australia, assisting with building problems/disputes, building stage inspections,pre-contract review advice for peace of mind 200 blogs http://www.buildingexpert.net.au/blog Re: Title insurance??? 5Sep 16, 2013 8:56 pm Building-expert- have you had any issues with clients building on subdivided land that hasn't been built on before in regards to title insurance?
