Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 13, 2013 12:14 am Hi All, (my virgin post, seriously considering at buying land and building myself) Been looking at M's designs. And want to know if the MORE TO LOVE LUXURY is worth that extra $50k upgrade from the HOME TO LOVE VALUE. The link for the Luxury inclusions: http://www.metricon.com.au/pdf/qld/prom ... usions.pdf I will also copy and paste them...sorry for the long post. For those who have already built or in the process of building, I am sure you guys would have a much better idea on the costing of these inclusions. Please if any of you could share your ideas on how much each item would cost roughly....hence coming to a figure if it is worth going for. (laminated flooring i have no problem, but i seriously recon the carpet is plain d0dgy low grade carpet with minimum underlay which they would expect us to upgrade again and paying more) Anyway, below is the list. Thank you people. _________________________________________________ http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/sustainability_zps2144e603.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/siteandconnectionspec_zpsf1835741.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/showertoiletlaundry_zps2eece9fe.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/kitchen_zps9df3a4fc.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/kitchenappliance_zps3ce687d5.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/internalinclusion_zps5cb62a32.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/flooring_zps9171d687.jpg http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz241/lovepub/externalinclusion_zpsc5389b25.jpg Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 2Sep 13, 2013 12:33 am Some of the LUXURY inclusions aren't luxury at all......already the same included in the VALUE range. Same items are: 1. choice of handles from the value range (kitchen) 2. painted shelving to pantry 3. Double Power point throughout 4. 2 tv points 5. 2 phone points 6. smoke detectors hard wired...etc ( think this is safety requirement so must be the same) 7. 3 coat internal walls/architraves 8. 2 coats ceiling paint system / 2 coat external walls 9. SUSTAINABILITY basically all the same as VALUE 10. Slab the same 11. Termite barrier same 12. collection of face brick facade options to choose from 13. 2 garden taps so it really doesn't look that many item is upgraded for $50k. But......any comments? Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 3Sep 13, 2013 7:19 am just looking at the inclusion and what is offered site works can be expensive then the glass splashback etc. but whether it is worth the extra 50 thousand well that i would have to price then decide Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 4Sep 16, 2013 6:22 pm been looking at plantation homes standard inclusion. i must say they seem to incude heaps of stuff which is listed in metric0ns luxury package. except for the flooring. but i doubt the carpet in luxuary package is up to every familys standard. ppl would be upgrading again isay. anyone shopping for design and deciding on builders have same feel as me? Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 5Sep 16, 2013 8:02 pm No I don't think this is worth $50,000, a lot of this stuff is standard and the energy efficiency stuff is required to give you the 6 star rating so you're really doing the builders a favour by buying it. You would be better off making a list of all your "must haves" and getting a quote. Don't let any builder trick you into their current promotion as they always have another promotion as soon as this one ends (as do every other builder). Whatever you get "for free" is always factored into the price else ware. Hope this helps. As one sales person once told me, when they say "free" what they really mean is "the cost of those items is included elsewhere". I've heard that Metricon use the cheap range carpet (carpet owners put in their rentals/investment properties).. Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 7Sep 16, 2013 10:52 pm I guess the Standard is the way to go and then choose whatever items need to be upgraded and do them item by item....then outsource flooring. This should come out cheaper than their so called Home to Luxury inclusions which the base price is 50k more than the HOme to Value base price. Please allow us to assist you with your query on our current offer. The More to Love offer in Queensland and Northern New South Wales provides a choice of either VALUE or LUXURY inclusions which can be applied to any of our homes in the Allegra, Freedom and Designer ranges. The VALUE offer gives our customers more features and greater value as part of our standard specifications – which means no additional cost! The LUXURY offer includes all the VALUE specifications PLUS the most commonly upgraded features to our homes. Providing you more luxury to your home! Our customers achieve a benefit of paying approximately 10% lower price when they buy the LUXURY package, versus buying the same items on an individual basis. The actual price of the LUXURY offer is home specific, primarily due to the size and layout of each home. Allow me to provide an example. Some of our homes have more than 1 bathroom! You will see that our brochure states that we are offering 20mm caesarstone to all bathroom vanities. This one example re-iterates why each home is priced in isolation, aligning all of the features in the offer against the floor plan of each of our homes. I think it is important to point out, the $50K luxury upgrade cost you have quoted, falls in line with our bigger range of homes. To give you a guide, based on the size of the home, the cost for the LUXURY offer (for features over and above standard) is as follows: - Murchinson 15 traditional $24,408 - Mason 28 traditional $37,116 - Vacluse 35 traditional $44,822 - Hudson 42 traditional $49,782 - Whittaker 45 traditional $53,328 - Nolan 50 traditional $56,745 For more details on the More to Love Value and More to Love Luxury, please visit www.metricon.com.au/queensland/campaign Another way you could tackle this, is how Sal032 and yourself have already suggested in this post. Take the More to Love Value (as standard) and then add in all the additional “must have” features you are looking for. Depending on how extensive your “must have” list is, you may discover that the quote comes out similar to the actual cost for the LUXURY offer on your chosen house type. If this is the case, go for the LUXURY offer giving you far more features and better value for your money! I encourage you to see one of our friendly sales consultants who can assist in working out the best value for you in terms of meeting all your “must have” items. And let’s not forget the inclusion of site works and connections in the luxury offer, for a block with site fall up to 500mm. Your sales consultant can provide you with an estimate of the average site costs for your particular area, which can help make your decision on whether or not the LUXURY offer will be the best value for you. I hope the above has answered your questions on our current promotion. For any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 1300METRICON or a please visit a sales consultant at your local Metricon Display. We would be more than happy to assist you further! Kind regards Metricon Customer Care Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 10Sep 19, 2013 9:58 pm Hi I can't really comment on the value as much, but just thought i would mention that if you do go with this, do some research on the Technika products that are part of the inclusions. We have found from a number of sources that these products are not great and even our Sales Consultant admitted he had a lot of people deleting them in favour of supplying their own. Hi Lovepub, We hope you have seen our detailed reply above and that it assisted you with the queries you had. In relation to your most recent question, Metricon cannot install client supplied items. If you are looking to upgrade some appliances, we may be able to assist you. We have certain alternate suppliers that we can use. This is something we can talk to you about during your colour consultation. And this way you will receive your upgraded appliance within your building contract and it will be supplied and installed! Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 13Nov 16, 2013 5:06 am My Builder in WA - Redink happily installed the items I supplied. Thats left us with a couple of Groovy Bosch Ovens, dishwasher and a Sweigen rangehood, all German stuff. Methinks find another builder if they start dictating terms to you. Saving money on quality stuff done right firstime Our Build Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66810&p=1094349#p1094349 Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 14Nov 16, 2013 7:19 am We got all of our appliances via Metricon (all upgrades) and actually found they were super competitive. I think only one item was more ($80) above the very best I could research. This also included installation, so don't be too hasty in thinking owner provided will be cheaper. In our case it wasn't even thought I was very confident this was an area I could save some dollars. Re: Metricon's 'More to love LUXURY" worth the extra $50k? 15Nov 16, 2013 8:17 am We are only allow to put I our own ovens as my husband sells ovens for a living. You can just keep the cheap oven and replace them with the good stuff later Have a look at getting a combi oven they are the best! But Metricon's upgrade does include the least stuff from what I have looked at. Loved one of their design, but add these, add those.....the cost is rocketing through the roof too fast. Always handy to have the facts on hand when relying on agents advice, a lot of times sale agents advice is only good anecdotally, and when you actually dive deeper it's… 33 52695 |
