Browse Forums Building A New House Re: first home - fairmont homes 104Nov 07, 2013 1:15 pm HI Looks to all be going well with your build:) We built with Fairmont too and slab went down july 16th 2012 and we had handover on the 19th feb which ended up being a week earlier then we were originally given. We had a hold up with the bricks too which would have set us back 2-3 weeks. Ours was a country build though so we had a different SS who was really very good. Take lots of photos as although it doesn't seem it goes quick! Seems like we've been here forever, lol ok maybe not, the lack or any garden and unfinished fences may give that away:) Re: first home - fairmont homes 105Nov 07, 2013 8:38 pm babysaurs HI Looks to all be going well with your build:) We built with Fairmont too and slab went down july 16th 2012 and we had handover on the 19th feb which ended up being a week earlier then we were originally given. Nice one my slab went down on 17 july this year. Its good to hear you were in by feb I have been given a completion date of 9 april next year. I plan on calling the ss at start of dec to see if there is a change in completion date as it seems to be moving on reasonably well Half a pallet of bricks was delivered today so the brickie will complete tomorrow or early next week I assume. Ive been taking lots of photo's when I can, its hard being locked out and working full time means I cant get there when trades might be around. But the end is in sight now What plan did u build? Did you run into many other problems? Love to hear about your experience Re: first home - fairmont homes 106Nov 07, 2013 8:39 pm Thanks guys im really so happy with how the kitchen ks looking just need the splashback and bench tops to finish it off Re: first home - fairmont homes 107Nov 12, 2013 8:32 pm The brickie finished up on Friday last week, the render guy came yesterday and finished up today, the electrician also has been through and put in all the light fitting, light bulbs, light switches and power points and they have attached all the doors to the linen and broom cupboards.... im guessing the eaves or the tiles will be next Re: first home - fairmont homes 108Nov 14, 2013 12:31 pm firsthomebuilder44 babysaurs HI Looks to all be going well with your build:) We built with Fairmont too and slab went down july 16th 2012 and we had handover on the 19th feb which ended up being a week earlier then we were originally given. Did you run into many other problems? Love to hear about your experience Are you at lock up yet? We were originally going to build with another company, our plan was originally that companies, but we had to change to entire back half of the house so after doing that the plan became ours:) Which came in handy when we had issue with that company just before signing the contact. Fairmont was the first company we took the plan too and their quote came in $20k cheaper and their travel charge was 10k cheaper then the other ones. The only problem was the bricks which wasn't Fairmont's fault was the brick company's. We were lucky that our SS let us use the tilers that did our bathroom etc to do our floors before handover (we hired them separate to the build, but SS let them have access so floors were done by handover) if that makes sense. Ill see if I can find the thread of our build for you:) Re: first home - fairmont homes 109Nov 14, 2013 12:45 pm viewtopic.php?f=31&t=56941&hilit=babysaurs This should be the thread for our build if interested:) Some pics in there too:) Re: first home - fairmont homes 110Nov 17, 2013 6:19 pm Are you at lock up yet?
