We have been told by various people that there is a significant cost in having 8ft doors as opposed to normal height. I just can't understand why. I owner built so know the additional cost of 2340mm vs 2040 doors My internal doors are about $30 more, door jamb $10 more. You need an extra 1.2m of architraves at $2. It prob takes a few minutes extra to install and there are extra cost for painting (although it's difficult to say if tradies get paid more for extra work). My carpenter and didn't charge me more for it and I don't know if my painter factored it in his quote. So the cost of it to me (and I assume builders) is say $50 per door.
