Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 487Aug 25, 2014 2:26 pm kavehman Has anyone else seen the plans for a monster of a house to be built on the >1000sqm lot ? Looks like it will be a really impressive feature house. I'm looking forward to seeing this one, and the one with the roof top terrace and pool take sahep. Hi Kavehman, no we haven't seen any plans for the large lot. Did see a few cars there last week, but don't know anything else The house with the pool on the second floor is three houses from us. We've heard that their build could take up to 2 years We finally moved in on Thursday! All settled in now with bits of unpacking left to do, but aside from a couple of niggles, Eden Brae have managed to do a really good job. The builders clean was impressive so I didn't have to worry about moving into a dusty, dirty house. Our first night was really quiet and since we don't have our plantation shutters yet, we had to newspaper the windows in our bedroom. VP is quite cold at night and in the morning, but we found the insulation kept the heat in the house. On our second night, some kids decided to cruise/joyride around in a VW polo and it kinda spooked us a bit, but it was just an annoyance. Ordered the council bins on Wednesday and was supposed to get it on Friday, but we haven't received them yet. Should get it today. It looks like bin night is Sunday night but I'll have to check that with Liverpool council. All there is left to do is fencing and landscaping. ~Nat Lawson 24 - Voyager Point Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 488Aug 25, 2014 4:18 pm Hey Everyone, We have received positive news. Completion date for our house is on Friday this week and then we have a week or so to check for any defects to be fixed. Cant wait to get those keys in my hand. As we will be moving in within the next couple of weeks we are in the process of getting quotes for fences. One side of our house is DHA which is a colourbond fence in Woodland Grey. We want go with the same colour and style. Does anyone that has DHA neighbours have the details of the fence they have used? I just want to make sure we get the same consistent fence. There are alot of companies that produce colorbond fences under another name with the same colours and are half the price but run with a range of different styles. I just want to make sure that they actually produce the same style as colorbond. If anyone has any details for the fence used for DHA please let me know. (Style/Specifications etc). Thanks, Jelena Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 490Aug 26, 2014 9:19 am JelenaNDaniel Hey Everyone, We have received positive news. Thanks, Jelena Hi Jelena, For the fence, you can contact Jade Biason who looks after the DHA homes in the area. Her email is jade.biason@dha.gov.au ~Nat Lawson 24 - Voyager Point Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 491Aug 26, 2014 11:36 am Thank you Nat! Ill contact her today. Hi Shobha, Our slab just went down after Easter (end of April). So just a little over 4 months. Being very impressed at how quick they have got it up. Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 492Aug 26, 2014 1:28 pm Good to hear that the neighbours are moving in....hopefully that will discourage Joy riders who test their loud cars and Bikes on the streets. Our build has gone slow because of the few mix ups. - wrong bathroom tiles were supplied i.e. wasted 2 weeks to fault find and replace. - detected a small roof leak in the garage..... - painters took fore ever...... well we are still ahead of the schedule and hopefull house clean up will start by the end of the month. We are hoping to get keys by the end of september....considering Builder inspections, first walk through, fix ups after walk through, CDC checks etc etc. I am really getting tired of the process now and just want it done. Vik Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 493Aug 28, 2014 9:19 pm I popped into VP this afternoon, around 6ish to peek in my widows as our paint was started today. While I was there the Police were driving around the area. They stopped out front of my place but when they saw me taking photos of the front door, they moved on. Must have figured I was an excited builder not a trouble maker. I don't know if they spoke with the four young guys in skateboards but they all disappeared fairly quickly. If course they could have been following the old street lights on curfew rule. I don't mind them hanging around, I think they deter people who might be up to no good. Last week-end Thieves stole the hot water systems from VP defence houses. apperently 16 of them on Coach Drive, Moss Street and bullrush cr. This was in local news paper. What you experienced must be the after math of that. Vik Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 495Aug 29, 2014 11:40 am I heard about that this morning from a friend. I don't think DHA learnt much of a lesson. There is still a pallet of pavers sitting out in the open and a couple of brand new baths. Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 496Aug 29, 2014 12:05 pm Renee/Vik71 thanks for the update, good to hear about some of these things. Hot water tank theft was one of my concerns actually, as it also happened to the display homes at Kellyville. Seems to be pretty common. To be fair whilst they are DHA homes, it's Southern Vale and I believe Matrix that would be responsible for any theft until after handover. I was thinking it would be good to have a camera monitoring system in place, but alas nowehere to actually place any cameras at the moment with no private residences ready. Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 497Aug 29, 2014 1:48 pm Yikes. Now I'm worried. Our hot water is locked to the wall with a bracket and padlock, but I don't think that will help much now. I remember having hot water this morning, so assuming we still have our heater ~Nat Lawson 24 - Voyager Point Re: Voyager Point - Heartwood 498Aug 29, 2014 3:12 pm Hi All, We had our 1st completion inspection today, the house looks great and im very happy with the results. We have a few little touch ups and then it wont be long until we move in. Now onto the landscape, fencing and driveway. Does anybody know about the regulations with driveways? Are we able to have anything we like in a sense of colour, design, materials etc. Alot of the DHA houses have stuck to certain type so not sure there was any regulations and rules. Thought id check with you all before i go digging for our land contract. As you have to go for the Road opening permit (pay $150-200 for 2 inpections) you will fill a form which will have full guideline for the driveways. Just hire the contractor who has worked in this area and knows the regulations. he need to form up and call the inspector before pouring concrete.....for colour and stuff...liverpool council doesnt care as long driveway in their land is kept brushed finish with natural concrete. So by the time I move in, all my neighbours on all sides will be in how exciting. Hope we all have a nice friendly neighbourhood. BTW, I am bringing a fencing person tomorrow to get a quote for the fence. Will send it to you. Cheers Building Standards; Getting It Right! Hi All, We have a fall from road to garage front.
