Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2013 8:18 pm Warning: venting in this post may occur Finally a sandpad has appeared on our block site after 9 weeks!!! Due in part to the weather other builders leaving sandbank around pad so drainage could not occur but moved past that.. Just... When... WHAM!!! Builders now want us to pay nearly $9000 to scrap away nearly metre high sand pad and put 200mm of limestone down and then put sandpad back on this is on top of the $35000extra we have already had to pay due to extra footings we needed (on top of building contract). We could be out $43000.00 soon and we are only at the sandpad stage. This is due to our site being "wet". It's Oakford and if you know Oakford that is what happens in Winter. It's also the reason we needed a metre high sandpad. Am sick of the incompetence!!!! Why didn't they put the limestone down first!!!! Vent over for now... It has to be said that they continued to lay sandpad even after they commissioned the report. I feel like I am building with Faulty Towers. I would request the dockets and invoice from the Earthmover showing the cost of the limestone (The earthmover will have dockets from the quarry showing the dates and cubic metres of limestone they have collected) Good Luck AKB viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Soooo many problems and only at sandpad - Oakford 5Aug 29, 2013 8:06 pm Thanks AKB. I sent them an email today to my CLO and the CLO manager and surprise suprise no reply. This is another frustrating aspect of building with my builder.... Lack of communication. No one wants to take any responsibility or actually try to rectify the problem. They are still even putting more sand on sand pad (?!) today.
