I have been given SS name and office contact name for the construction stage yesterday but was told not to contact SS at any stage. Is it normal practice? That's a bit odd... I must admit, I spoke to my SS twice during my build - the day the trenches were dug and a fence was in the way and on PCI. But was never told "dont call him". You would think that SS have up to date information on the progress not the office staff. The fact that the office would not know when the slab will go down pazzled me a bit as well. Getting info out of anyone there all those years ago was painful, and I felt the same... how they had no idea about things that would clearly need to be scheduled and booked in advance, was beyond me. Plus there was about 4 different office contacts (people quitting) during my build, no wonder it was chaos! I'm sure it'll be ok, once it starts - that's when it gets easier Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66299 Slab: 16/6/14 Frame: 4/7/14 Roof: 22/7/14 Lock Up: 20/8/14 Fixing: 26/8/14 PCI: 9/10/14 Handover: 20/10/14 Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - ok to constructio 46Mar 12, 2014 3:05 pm Yes, that sounds like normal practice. It does make sense too when you think about the poor SS who could have more than 100 jobs to oversee from north to south, east to west, involving a lot of time on the road as well as at the sites--not much consolation for you being the one who has to pay for it all. Write to the customer service rep. assigned to your job and follow up if there is no answer within a reasonable time (we usually allowed five working days). This approach worked for us most of the time. We learned from "the hole" in our slab that the SS takes on the job only once the slab has been poured and the frame is in place. It wasn't until the hole and prodding from us for an explanation as to how the hole would be rectified without compromising the slab for guarantees etc. that we were able to speak to our SS. I hope you don't have to experience a hole, by the way. After the slab and frame went up, we were able to visit every day too, so that helped us know what was happening. We'd often see something and receive notification the following week--and that helped us know when to expect a request for the next payment. I think you can request a walk through before making payments, but you'd need to check your paperwork to make sure as it might apply only to the later payments. Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - ok to constructio 47Mar 13, 2014 12:13 pm I could not believe my eyes when I have received the email from the Construction Staff saying that the trenching has started on site today and they have discovered a few tree stumps on site. We have cut the tree last night and did net take everything out thinking that we still have a couple of weeks before any site work starts. With my luck, I have now incured additional cost of removing those stumps By the way, last night it was no sign of anything on the site, no toilet, no site preparation, nothing... That is odd. Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - ok to constructio 49Mar 13, 2014 3:17 pm It was no signs last night and they have started today. My ex is going there at the moment and he will let me know what is happening. What happened with the tree stumps? Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - ok to constructio 53Mar 13, 2014 8:30 pm We have removed the stumps but apparently there were some buried on the block and now it is a pile of soil, roots and branched at the back fence Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ First house - Statesman Greenock (modified) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66876 Second house - Fairmont Grand Design (modified) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=100789 Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - site works commen 54Mar 14, 2014 8:22 am I'm glad the stumps didn't seem to hold things up any further. Re: Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - site works commen 55Mar 14, 2014 9:38 am Went to the land in the morning before work. Half of the trenches are already done but more of the roots and branches are discovered under the ground. I have asked the guys if it will hold them up but they said no, they will just dig them up and put in the pile at the back fence to be removed later.
