Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2013 9:58 am Last question - I promise! We have been a little disappointed in the quality of the paint finish for our new home as we did PCI on Monday. We used red-dots to mark areas inside where we found: * Noticeable paint blemishes (thick irregularities/pooling sections, thin sections where 2nd coat not applied, other faults) * Dents, gouges or other damage. The Site supervisor advised that AUST. STD was to stand 1m back almost directly in-front to assess paint finish. We did this (realising that in different light and at angles like 45 deg more issues become evident). However we are concerned that "touch-up" fixes are going to leave visible blotches in the finish in these sections. We were advised that the builder does NOT re-paint whole walls where multiple touch-up fixes are identified. Is this correct? Do we have the right to support expecting better than this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sheeds. Re: PCI question on Paint/Plaster finish. Dents/gouges/blemi 2Aug 28, 2013 10:27 am Your SS is correct in that they will not repaint whole walls. After our PCI, we had so many issues with paint and plaster. Imagine how I felt looking at my walls that were pock marked with green painters tape all over We can not tell where they have done the paint and plaster touchups. They will likely use the same left over paint that was used to paint your house, so you will not notice any difference in paint colour once the touchups are done. Also when you move in, it will be unlikely that you will inspect your walls to the fine tuned degree that you did at PCI. I was very pedantic in my inspection (probably why PCI took 5 hours to inspect my almost 40sq house!), but after moving in, the walls look evenly painted and I don't really notice any differences in paint finish. Dents/gouges/blemi 4Aug 28, 2013 10:36 am No worries. I am sure that you are not the only one wondering about differences in paint finish. The only time that they would ever repaint a wall is if an inspector has failed the painting in a house (which would be very rare indeed!).
