Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 28, 2013 8:52 am Another quick question. The builder/electrician has installed a new profile/design power-points/light switches throughout the house. At the time we signed contract in MAR 13, and as selected from the display home they were std HPM traditional switches (squarish in a style houses have used forever and a day). The installed items are new HPM Legrande branded switches/points with smaller, rounded switches and a profile we dislike. We wish to demand they be changed over to what we saw in the display home and expected. The builder advice is that we are the "second" home to have these installed in their "new" national standard - but had no prior advice of change. Thoughts? Ta, Sheeds. At the time of selection/contract signing and as seen in the display home, these are not what we have. NOW (ie we are second completed home to have them in) they have changed to a new "std" design by Legrange (who bought out HPM or vice versa). We do not like the new ones, and were not advised of any proposed change...furthermore one of the ones we expected has actually been put in the WIR vs all the others being the ones we hate! Re: Electrical switches/power points installed differ vs dis 4Aug 28, 2013 9:39 am I would try and get some compensation out of them or it would be a few hours job for an apprentice sparky to just swap them out so you could persist with what is written in the contract. Or you could try and get compensation out of them so you can do it yourself after handover. If your builder is an as5 then i wish you goodluck for an ameniable outcome. Basically ask for the cost of the switches to be compensated for.
