Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2013 10:19 pm Hi All, I thought I would start my own thread as our build will be happening soon yippee! We are building the Myrtle Alfresco. We have made a few changes, like flipping bed 1 and the home theatre around so our bedroom is more in the middle of house rather than at the front. We have also extended the family room out to the edge of the alfresco (like in the Frewville) and added some massive sliding doors that open into one gigantic space (with no piller in the middle! Like triple sliding doors) at the back of the house instead of the sliding door on the side. The alfresco sliding doors we have are just having the 2 standard with a pillar like at mount barker (or was it northgate with only the 2? Confused they are both so different!) We had our colour selections on the 9th July 2013 and here are our selections: Bricks: Austral Vintage Grey with natural grey mortar Roof: Woodland Grey Colourbond Windows: Paperbark Gutters: Woodland Grey colourbond Fascias: Paperbark colourbond Front door: XN5 - paperbark, frosted windows Garage door: Roller door, paperbark Internal Paint Colour: Taubmans Ashwood Skirtings & architraves: Ashwood Internal doors, skirtings & architraves: ASC Smooth door and Colonial S and A Cornice: Trio (called Jazz in selections book) Door handles: Satin stainless steel Manor series 1 Built in Robes: Vinyl White birch Cupboard doors: Barossa Profile Cupboard handles: 046-203 round silver (the ones we reaaaaally wanted were discontinued ) Kitchen benchtop: Essastone Crystal Chalk gloss finish Kitchen splashback: Splashback in sparkley light browny colour Oven, cooktop, pull out rangehood: 900mm Gas cooktop electric oven Kitchen mixer: Oasis sink mixer with veggiw sprayer Hand basins: Cosmo vanity basin. Semi recessed in ensuite Bathroom mixers: stylus pin Bathroom floor tiles: Light grey square 300x300 182030P slate grey grout Bathroom wall tiles: Light beige stone look 182035P 300x600 mudberry 285 grout Bathroom bench tops: Laminex Lunar Stone natural finish Floors: Laminate timber floors in bluegum or Jarrah red tones after handover Carpet: eco+ carpet sunrise in Mushroom (brown) after handover Got extras also like double power points, extra tv point and 2.7m ceilings etc as part of the 26k of extras promotion. Cavity sliders to the study and home theatre room also and an extra door put on the kitchen to hallway and also walk in robe. Currently we have all council approval and bank approval and we are just waiting on the bank confirming they have recieved our signed documents so statesman can be informed and we will hopefully be released to construction this friday the 30th August! Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 2Aug 27, 2013 10:20 pm Also we have just realised that because our garage is being built on the boundary we need to remove 6metres of existing fencing so we better go and introduce ourselves to our new neighbours so we can remove that this weekend! Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 3Aug 27, 2013 10:26 pm Sounds lovely, look forward to following your build Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 4Aug 28, 2013 7:03 am Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 5Aug 28, 2013 8:52 am Sounds really nice, Ten88. Best of luck for Friday! Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 6Aug 31, 2013 11:28 am 1rocky yes that is similiar except our plans are flipped and have made a few changes like flipping bed 1 and home theatre, and extending the family room out to the edge of the alfresco. We had emails from Statesman on friday that the estimators had noticed some things were missing in our final contracts, decisions we made after final colours that our colours consultant forgot to include in properly (full height tiling and our rainwater bypass system being plumbed to both toilets) we obviously didnt notice it missing when we signed all the contracts either! But it all got fixed straight away and I am fairly certain we were released to construction on friday as the plans we had to resign had a "construction 30th august" stamp on it! I guess we will know for sure if we get an email on monday about it (statesman told me last week she would call me on monday if it was released!) So curious to know how soon work will start now. Might try and stalk some other statesman posts in this forum to see peoples timelines! Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 7Aug 31, 2013 12:35 pm Hi Ten88, I'm building with Hickinbotham, but I think their process might be the same as Statesman. If so, others have said they started straight away, but mine didn't. The official letter to confirm the OK to Start date says four to six weeks, or earlier. Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 8Sep 05, 2013 4:15 pm I got a phonecall on monday saying it has been released to construction and siteworks and footings would begin in 4 weeks which was a bit disheartening! However on tuesday the machine was there leveling out the block, on wednesday the porta loo was delivered and today (thursday) they have started digging trenches! Yippee! Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 12Sep 17, 2013 11:52 am Hi Ten88 Congratulations! That's a nice house, we are going to build with Statesman as well, and our floor plan is based on Myrtle Alfresco. A few questions for you if you do not mind. 1. Did you sign up the preliminary service Agreement together with the building agreement at the same time? 2. What is you footing costs and which area you are building? We are just thinking if they provide us too high footing costs then we may have to quit, but not sure if we still can do so or not. Thanks Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 13Oct 10, 2013 11:22 am We now have a frame, windows installed, gutters going on and bricklaying just started! Yay! Happening so fast its awesome. Superhouse, We dont remember if we signed them all at the same time, we pretty much signed everything as soon as it came to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible though. Our footings were originally quoted at 22k I think but due to the soil and needing deeper footings and extra soil removal it ended up being about 15k on top of that! A setback but luckily it was still withing our budget. We are building south of adelaide about 5 minutes out of Mclaren Vale. Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 14Oct 23, 2013 2:09 pm Thanks, we have been told to increase a $12k costs in footing even have not done a soil test! Seem Statesman uses this trick to get people in with low price then increase price here and there. Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 17Mar 25, 2014 7:21 pm Howdy, quick question please. How much did statesman charge you for your stone bench top? We had the 6 m included in the deal, but they are saying cos it's a big kitchen it will be an extra $2200 does that sound right to you? I'm blown away Re: Ten88's Myrtle Alfresco Statesman Homes New Build 18May 03, 2014 2:26 pm Hi, I'm pretty sure if you go over your 6 metre allowance you will need to pay extra. If you don't mind me asking Meg 79 was that with the 26K upgrades? Also, are you referring just to the stone bench top or all the additional cupboards that go along with it. I'm also building with Statesman Homes and I have been charged around $550 just for extra cupboards below my benches which would only be an extra 600mm or so. Depending on how much extra bench space you are getting it does sound expensive Hi there! Putting the feelers out there for those who have (or almost) built with Arli homes!
