Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2013 9:39 pm Hi all, My family has just secured a lot in Warralily Coast which titles mid 2014.We are currently considering Dennis Family Homes as our builder. We were wondering if other people have built with them in this estate and what advice/comments they might have.We have been given site costs that aren't fixed(is that a concern?) also on the quote they have added what seems to be a $5000 fee for the privelige of freezing the current cost with their promotion.(this is on top of the usual $1000 deposit).this seems odd as other builders are quite happy to lock in the price for up to 12 mths with the usual $1000 ish deposit.looking forward to our future in this exciting new estate.....so much to consider Cheers Mark Re: Warralily Coast Dennis Family Homes 2Aug 28, 2013 12:15 pm Congratualtions! We aren't building with DFH or at Warralilly coast, but are in the geelong region. We initially were looking at a block which was to title about 8 months out and had each builder charge a (different) amount for locking in the price. I think you'll find its fairly standard. Hopefully someone building a little closer can help you with site costs. Our lot ended up being quite different to how it was supposed to be in the engineering provided by the developer so its kind of understandable if they don't want to fix costs on something that they have no idea or control over. Re: Warralily Coast Dennis Family Homes 3Sep 28, 2013 10:17 am Hi Mark, I wouldn't bother paying the 5k to lock in the current promotion unless you have already selected a design, sometimes their promotions are only on particular designs. They always have some kind of promotion on though. We are building with Dennis Family Homes, they have been fantastic. They are a bit slow with the paperwork (We paid our 1k deposit back in June and we still have about 4 weeks to wait before they start the build) but that won't affect you if your block doesn't title until Mid 2014. I would definitely recommend DFH.
