Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2013 6:36 pm Hello everyone Like many people on the forum, I too have been following the different builds in Perth, particularly the Perth Hills. Now that we are finally about to begin I thought it was time to start documenting my own journey. It has taken my husband and I 15 months to finally get titles on our block, which in itself was no plain sailing. We have had all kinds of hiccups, from building envelopes to fencing and now services. What can I say, lucky I like a good challenge. Regardless, the fun will really begin as we get closer to the actual build itself! So now to the facts: We are building our own design with Ventura. 6 Star rating achieved last week. Final plans are about to be lodged with City of Swan. Hopefully only a few weeks before we can begin site works. Doing own site works and retaining (so much cheaper than with the builder) Once I get an electronic copy of the final plans I will upload them. Photos of the block http://s898.photobucket.com/user/DreamB ... show/Block Hopefully I will find the time to keep adding to this post and look forward to sharing the journey with everyone! I will keep updating this list as each stage is finished. 31/10/2013 - Earthworks Began 16/12/2013 - Slab Finished 6/2/2014 Brickwork Began 17/3/2014 Roof Timbers Began 4/5/2014 Gutters finished 15/5/2014 Roof Cover Finished 18/5/2014 Rendering finished 27/5/2014 Windows and Doors in 2/6/2014 Plastering Finished Nic 2nd build with Ventura Highland Reserve Jane Brook 3200m2 Block 525m2 House Re: Building in Highland Reserve Jane brook 2Aug 30, 2013 2:36 pm Hi JB Good to see another person building in Highland Reserve its such a nice place and you certainly have a nice block! check out my thread in my signature to see me and another person also building in the new reserve titles for us aren't due till October but its slowly drawing closer hehe. ill definitly be keeping an eye on your thread Re: Building in Highland Reserve Jane brook 3Aug 30, 2013 4:18 pm Thanks SimiA I noticed on your thread that there are a few more people on the forum building in JB. Im hoping we will have some retaining within the next fortnight on our block. we are on Hilliger turn up the top but very happy with the area and the house we have chosen. All the very best with your build. Look up the hill - that is our place. Or at least it will be when they put the bricks on the slab. There are at lest a couple of our neighbours almost ready. Cheers Peter Re: Building in Highland Reserve Jane brook 8Nov 20, 2013 4:13 pm Hi It has been a while since I have posted anything on our build. This has mainly been due to nothing happening. Well I can now say that our earthworks have begun! Yay!!! Although we are a long way from being ready for the slab, it is a start and I have a few photos of the early stages. http://s898.photobucket.com/user/DreamB ... Earthworks I will pop some more photos up as the earthworks progresses. Having just had settlement on a block in the same estate I figured i'd say hi I think i've driven past your block a few times.. the view is AMAZING from up there!! I'll be following your magnificent build! Good luck! Re: Building in Highland Reserve Jane brook 10Jan 31, 2014 5:33 pm Hi Holly and Callum Welcome to this forum topic and Jane Brook. Congratulations on settlement, I hope you were not as delayed as we were. I know there are always delays, but we were told August 2012, then October 2012, then November 2012, early December 2012, definitely before Christmas 2012 .... well we got settlement just after the March long weekend 2013. Anyway, we are on our way to getting bricks and starting the really exciting stuff. In fact our bricks are due to be delivered on Monday Feb 3 - YAY! I have updated the Earthworks photos to include some more recent shots of the slab. I will definitely be out there Monday to see if the bricks in fact have been delivered. http://s898.photobucket.com/user/DreamB ... We were delayed by about 3 or so months. Our titles were released on the 20th of December - nice timing right!?! But we got there in the end so it's all ok! I bet its super exciting now that you're moving along quicker.. did the bricks arrive??? Fingers crossed! Re: Building in Highland Reserve Jane brook 12Feb 07, 2014 5:39 pm Hi Holly & Callum Yes lots of delays, but what can be done - nothing. At least we are on our way now. Well at least I thought so. Yes the bricks have arrived but unfortunately the window frames and brickies are still 1-2 weeks away. On a different note, did you get the email about Mirvac's Splash Family Fun Day on Feb 16? It looks like a great afternoon for kids (including big "adult" kids). I will be there cooking sausages and flipping hamburgers at our Jane Brook Community Association Stall. For more information go to our website http://www.janebrookcommunity.com.au/in ... /upcoming/ Hope to see you and any other new Jane Brookians there! We haven't heard anything about prestart yet, they still have a couple of weeks left for plans to be finished. Let's hope they come back without any problems! I got the email about the family fun day, I love how community orientated Mirvac and the reserve is! Unfortunately I work on Saturdays and then we've got a family birthday. Plus no little kiddies for us yet... mind you that wouldn't stop the other half! Hopefully there are a few more community shindigs and we'll get to those Hope you had fun though, weather was lovely!! go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110564 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11035 |
