Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 45Dec 05, 2013 3:31 pm Bradster.................I wont be touching it unless we have some cracking hot weather. There will probably be a couple of days over Chrissie when I trounce down there with my ace new 18mm (3/4) hose and give it a soaking I expect. I work with an ex grano, and one of the towns best grano's who's now in the mines have given me the "low down". You wont get better advice than that then Handy to have mates in the right trades. Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 49Dec 27, 2013 2:41 am I was at work when the wife querried me about a mysterious pile of dirt on the Slab. Initially we didnt know from whence it came. We querried Redink who assured us that no work had been done. We assumed it was perhaps our plumber doing something in relation to the roof run-off. I querried our SS (first contact) who admitted he hadnt even opened our file yet. I return home from work and we contact our Plumber who's putting in our Bio Mass sewerage system and he assures me he hasnt done any work. Suddenly the full horror is revealed to me..................its Redinks Plumbers, theyve done the initial slab Plumbing, My Redink client liason had no idea and neither did the Site Super ????? (as related to me by the client liason). No-bodys bothered to establish what the height of the outfall for the system is and No-One at Redink knows where the system is situated, there are no photo images of where the piping is situated. The problem is that not only does the location of the system require council approval (which has been granted) but its limited by the location of Limestone walls (which no-body at Redink is aware of) despite being told repeatedy about them. There is a strictly limited ability on my part to move/relocate the Bio-Mass Sewerage sytem because of the proximity of the retaining walls. Worse case scenario i suppose the installed plumbing may have to be moved or at worst the fall will be incorrect and the plumbing redone. Why didnt Client liason or site supervision have any idea of the work being undertaken? Why wasnt I informed when clearly according to the contract the sewerage system was by owner? What in Heavens name did the Redink Plumbing contractor think they were connecting to and at what height? Why am I defacto site supervising this project from 1000 Miles away in the Pilbara? (if it wasnt for me no-one would even be aware that we had a problem yet) The initial conversation with the Principal of Redinks Plumbers is along the lines of "My jobs done" you'll have to excavate it yourself" also the gem " I cant tell you what the height of the fall is as I dont know and i'm not going to tell you because I might be wrong then I'll be liable for something". "Good grief "I think to myself. The Client liason person at Redink is considerably more helpfull and has arranged a meeting between the Plumbing Principal, the Site Supervisor and myself. At this stage I'm not sure of the availability of my Plumber to attend this meeting. So here I'll be trying to sort out Redinks Plumbers, possibly without the attendence of the guy who's connecting up my system. O'h and the timing of the meeting is delaying my Holiday in Margaret River by two days (accom already paid for) stuffing up my Familys Holidays Just thinking about this is giving me pains in the chest. The Mess that is my slab. Ive been informed that I have to move this crap off my slab and clean up the site (again) at my own expense. Just wow. That's terrible. Both on the part that they had no idea what their own company was doing and they don't even seem sorry about it. I wouldn't be moving the dirt either, try can sort it out surely. Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 51Dec 27, 2013 10:17 am Why would they do that?! And why do you have to clean it :/ Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 52Dec 27, 2013 3:32 pm Good People. I don't think I'm a "Drama Llama". Five years ago we built two investment properties in Karatha in the middle of the mining boom. Lets just say the ultimate up there was when They crashed a Manitou "telehandler" into one the houses. They broke up the driveway concrete with a truck. The slab of one home was sinking requiring a full engineers report. The wiring was not compliant to WA regs The builder tried the "I didn't say that........Did I?" on thousands of dollars worth of "Handshake agreements" I could go on but the point is I think I'm pretty realistic about this building project and the challenges it presents. I thought about not posting any information in relation to this Plumbing issue. By natural inclination I am firmly from a school of "don't ask, don't tell". I could breeze through like many others might on their threads chucking in cute snaps of the kids pretending the biggest issue is the colour of the laundry walls. However I have decided that this thread is going to be an accurate portrayal of our Journey of building this dwelling, in this location with Redink Homes. At least someone reading this will have some small understanding of what happens when you build. I will get to Margaret River for our Holidays (eventually) and I will have an ice cold German Wheat Beer, as for what is going to happen with the Plumbing?...........well that's largely up to Redink. I didn't keep much to myself at all haha Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 54Jan 28, 2014 8:21 am Meeting on the 9th January. It all came together. I'm just waiting for my excavator ATM to get it in(Sewerage system). Looks like a 3-4 week wait at the moment. I'm sealing the limestone walls today(was presuure washing them yesterday) Brickies to be onsite in two weeks according to site super. Window Frames have arrived. P.S Margaret River was very relaxing but I think Ive gained a couple of pounds. The weather down there was simply wonderful and cool. As much as I love it I don't think I could live down there, the distance from Perth would be an issue. However I'd happily have a beaut weekender acreage if I won Lotto Saving money on quality stuff done right firstime Our Build Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66810&p=1094349#p1094349 Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 56Feb 02, 2014 2:09 pm Glad that's been resolved Wandin Valley. My mouth fell open when I saw your poor slab. I noticed earlier that you are supplying some kitchen products, were Redink pretty good about that? We are considering supplying our own basins as we aren't happy with the standard and can only imagine the mark up for an above counter basin. We had already brought stuff :Sink, 2 Ovens etc as we were going with another builder. We talked to them at the early stages where they were really trying to "get our business". Redink have never been dictatorial with us, I guess flexible is the right word. Negotiation is part asking/ part telling, just asking expecting to get told NO will probably result in a "NO". A couple of times I let them know I was prepared to walk (and I was)..............all the while my wife looked at me with the "I'm going to kill him" look on her face. Ask..............Good Luck. I'd thought i'd post these picys up because these bricks arn't that common. They are Boral Classique: Limestone....cost us an extra couple of grand to go with these Baby's. Oh and Redink dont normally build with these so I had to be at my persuasive best Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Saving money on quality stuff done right firstime Our Build Thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=66810&p=1094349#p1094349 Re: Redink: Luxury: Northam WA 60Feb 27, 2014 10:38 pm Great to hear that the issues have been sorter WV. I also used my thread as a totaly accurate account of my build - the good, the bad & the ugly! I think that it is helpful for others to actually read about the actual process not some fantasy process that actual doesn't exist. I love your bricks, they look awesome.
